Have you ever wondered what to do today ?

I started in 2016 and now have over 3500 hours invested, and have done I believe just about everything in Elite.
There have been many times I have just sat in my ships cockpit and contemplated just what I should do.
There are just so many pirates one can eliminate or settlements to raid before going crazy.
The other day after looking for a fresh adventure, I took my carrier out to HIP 36601 to gather up some raw materials.
I had a good old time shooting crystals.

What’s you go to activity to fight boredom ?

What’s something you haven’t done in a long time but good to do again ?

I think my next adventure will be lighting up the Thargiod Map Room.

Canonn Research website is a great place to find inspiration.

Crashed ships, INRA bases, Generation Ships, Dredgers etc.
The list is almost endless.

Spend 10 minutes browsing the Canonn website while hauling cargo, or whatever, and then take off in my DBX to do a bit of sightseeing, based on something I've read.

In addition to looking at the Canonn Maps (https://map.canonn.tech/), I also like to look at ED Astrometrics map (https://edastro.com/galmap/).

As far as actual in-game activities...When I'm bored or burnt out on something I like to head of into the black, explore in ship/srv and on foot, hunt salad and laser mine...sometimes I go looking for new guardian sites...

I've also adopted an in-game faction for which I'm doing both BGS work and Colony building...

There’s some tourists beacons way the heck out in the black. Every once in a while, I’ll pick one that I haven’t been to and make the trip casually. After 5KLy from the bubble, I’ll start doing some exploring and exobiology along the journey. It’s a nice diversion from time to time.

I've only been back in the game for about a month after transferring my old 2022 Xbox account to PC. So I'm still very much in the phase of going through different roles, missions, power play, exo, odyssey etc etc and figuring out what's what.

But I've always felt that Elite, more than almost any other game, really benefits from taking a few minutes to work out what you're doing for any given session.

The amount of evenings I've wasted roaming about not really having a plan, or gone off half baked only to have the wrong loadout, or a misunderstanding of what to do.

I Have to say though, that with colonisation, I have a new go-to activity if I can't come up with anything else in the moment.

I get what you're saying but that's when you need to remember that ED is a game and as long as you're being entertained then you're not "wasting" your time. :)

I think a big part of the frustration people have in ED is caused by the desire to "do" stuff but I guess that's part of the appeal too.
If you just want an hour of pew-pew, you can do that or, OTOH, you can come up with some convoluted plan, buy a suitable ship, outfit it, engineer it, and then go and do something more involved.

If I'm totally stumped, I either play something else or buy a new ship. I still only own about two-thirds of the ship models available. For some of them, it's an intense mental puzzle just coming up with a valid use. Finding a purpose for an Asp scout is like finding Raxxla.

I'm not playing quite so much. Mostly just cherry-picking the easiest PP tasks each week. There are two reasons:

1. The Thargoids have gone and DW3 is still a long way off.

2. My obsession with Lord of the Rings Online has reawakened.

FD might fix #1 at any moment by having more titans turn up. #2 will probably wear off in time for DW3.

A couple have mentioned exploring the black, sounds good. But I really don’t want to leave the bubble because there is always something happening here.

Then I remembered I have an alt account, perfect to take it out deep….Explorer’s Anchorage and still keep main account here.
Best of both worlds, and this should keep me busy preparing alt.

1) buy carrier for trip
2) get new ships for alt and engineer them.
3) will need to get some materials for engineering
4) fill carrier with fuel
5) need to get some titan drive components for upgrade to FSD’s

I am getting tired just thinking about it.

Just bought carrier so no going back, lots to do

I wipe my save and start over when I lose steam. I would rather struggle, fight, murder and steal to climb up than sit upon a pile of nothing
There is now way I will wipe out my commander and half to go through all the ship rank & engineering unlocks.
Just pick up an alt account.
I have over 4000 hours in two accounts.
Now I will have one in the bubble and one in the black.

Which ones and how many do you realistically need?
3) will need to get some materials for engineering
PP activities are a good way
4) fill carrier with fuel
Tritium Monkeys? https://www.tritiummonkeys.com/home

Only if you have to have the Pre Engineered drives.
