Have you noticed this too?

Hey guys,

Recently I've been interdicted a lot while carrying no cargo. NPCs have asked me to drop cargo when there is nothing to drop!

I've noticed a common denominator - on my inventory screen, I've left the materials page on. My theory is that the AI sees this value and determines it to be cargo.

So naturally, I flew with it back on the cargo screen (0 cargo) - no more pirate interdictions. After a week, I put the materials screen back on. Interdiction ahoy! The change was drastic so I can't put it down to simple coincidence.

Anyone noticed this as well?

I've noticed that I got interdicted (no cargo, in a Sidewinder) by NPCs twice in the last couple of days - but I've never even looked at my materials screen in this incarnation.

Also checked the comms screen afterwards, and it was pirates in both cases.

If it happens again, after the incident cycle through the tabs and see what comes up. It is possible that if the materials comes up instead of the cargo, when you get to that tab (am I making sense lol) that could have triggered it. As I say, possible. More data needed!

Interesting... Repped. I'll try this one out...

Holy ship! I inadvertently did exactly that connection last night! :O I'm going to check tonight, after the Cubs are in bed.

I was interdicted three times be Federal System ships the other day. I had no cargo, and no bounties. The ships would interdict me, and then just fly off without even scanning me. I assume it was do to lockdown and near civil war of the system I was in at the time, and all the Checkpoints.

Never happened to me before, so I found it weird but interesting.

If you can show it repeatedly happening then I'd flag it in a bug report so FD can look into it further.

Absolutely. But more evidence required. I'm not going to waste their precious time if it's the space monkeys playing with me, albeit it's unlikely since I've noticed it repeatedly since January.

You assumed right :)

FWIW it has been tweaked a bit in beta, where they ask for specific cargo if you have it, and say how much plus give you a timer. :)

If you take a mission to go and fetch something, NPCs are often assigned to chase you from the start, i.e. before you've collected the cargo. You get a mission message telling you that they're coming. They never check to see whether you have the cargo or not, so they come out with the same spiel.

Yep. However, this has been happening without missions to go and fetch anything!

So maybe the problem will be solved anyway - IF there has been a problem :D

Isn't this being fixed in 2.3? I believe they are adding a step where pirates will actually scan you for cargo after an interdiction. If you have no cargo or if it's not worth enough, they will fly off.

That's how the Pirates harass me when im in the asteroids mining . thay ask me if I have anything and if I don't have anything they'll say something rude and stupid and go away, usually they get harassed by system Authority and are no longer be a problem,as for being interdicted I'm not sure I'm too busy trying to getaway from them to really pay attention to what they say, you're so damn annoying anyway, they're like flies one hot summer day!
