Haven't played for a long time. Ships are missing

Hi,

I haven't played ED in a long time. Was part of the beta and into release (so it's been a couple years). Was looking to get back into the game. I've logged in and have a bunch of credits. But all the ships I use to have are missing. Only have the Cobra now. I know I was flying an Adder and had 3 or 4 others.

Has there been a reset? or have i just been away too long.

There's been sevea 'Betas' over the years buy no reset since launch so if you mean the pre-launch kickstarter beta then yes, there was a reset at the start of gamma but not since then.

There were several starter packs, at least one of which got you started in a Cobra MkIII, not sure about any extra cash but on the bright side progress & particularly credit earning better than has ever been so you'll be able to quickly earn enough to be able to buy & equip more ships.

FYI you can find any ships you own in the station services, shipyard. There should be icons on the galaxy and system maps that indicate where they are parked.

Thanks. Yeah checked the shipyard and it seems I only have the Cobra. Can't see anything on the map either. That's definitely not what I was flying last.

I probably need to start from scratch anyway. It's been a long time.

You have a rather weird way of counting those couple of years
I mean, i play since end of 2018 - so about 5 years and the only beta i know of was the Fleet Carriers beta in the first part of 2020.
And "release" was like at the end of 2014 :)


Anyway, welcome back :)

Edit: and hopefully release doesnt mean Odyssey cause it had no beta, only a very short and rushed Alpha - i know, technicalities 😇 🙃

Welcome back after all these years.

You could always ask support about you other ships, but after such a long time starting from scratch might be a good idea.

If it’s been as many years as it would seem I’d suggest restarting completely with a new Cmdr or resetting your old one if you’re attached to the name and face.

Since you’ve been away FDev have completely overhauled the ‘starter experience’ which is fun, informative, pretty comprehensive and takes place in a safe zone of several systems closed to all other players except fellow new starters. It would be a very good way to brush up on those old skills, learn the new things added since you left and be back in a Cobra MkIII by the time you head out into the Bubble again.

I‘ve done it a few times with alt accounts and it’s one of the best additions to the game in years in my opinion.

EDIT: I should have pointed out that all progress made in the starter systems carries over once you leave them.

The starter zone is currently inaccessible to new players, they get placed outside it right from the start.

Oh. I assume a bug rather than FDev closing down the starter systems? I haven’t followed the forums closely for a few months due to RL stuff so wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for the information.

One more possibility: The station/MS you were at could have been evacuated at some point. In that case your ships would have been moved automatically.

But you should still be able to find them on the galaxy map.
