Haven't played in months. What's changed?

This isn't a good thing...

It's not? Until FD get's their heads out of it, it's a great thing IMO. Any improvement to the abysmal combat pilot profit potential is welcomed. I would add, just being able to nav lock a wingmate trader, talk to them and enjoy a REAL multiplayer experience (as opposed to everything pre 1.2) is a huge core game addiction and a game changer.

Tone huh? Okay. I've simply stated there's nothing really new here in 1.2. Looks like folks such as yourself are struggling to counter this point. There really is little new in 1.2 other than the wings and that appeals to very few players. Sure, there's 2x new ships with a mix of the same old stats. Wow. So it's x guns and x cargo vs. x guns and x cargo at x credits. So what? There's nothing new to missions. Nothing for explores. Nothing for mining. Nothing new to make rank progression mean anything. Nothing new to make rep mean anything. Nothing new other than to simply reinforce what's already in the game which isn't much. Game is still an inch deep.

Alrighty then, we'll just agree to disagree.

The "tone" part would be this for example" "Wow, really? Why don't you enlighten us..." and that sort of thing. If I've misinterpreted your tone, I apologize but, I don't think I have.

Errr... Okay. No argument here. This is not an argument. It's a major difference of opinion. The 1.2 release brings nothing new to the core game. Explain what you think is so great and is so "wow" and new to the core game.
I have no idea how you can claim this isn't an argument. And please take the condescending tone out of your posts here. I agree with Sanderson, your posts sound arrogant and overbearing, IE "Why don't you enlighten us...".

I already explained what I think is so great and "wow". The ability to have fun with friends in tactical, high player concentration battles. The ability to make more money optimizing trading in groups. The ability to explore and share scans with friends to chart distant stars at maximum speed.

Working as a coordinated, communicating unit with wingmates is to me a game changer and adds a lot to the game. I can ally with my wing to have large scale battles now, something I will most certainly be doing. Not to mention the 2 new ships and strong signal sources to exploit for profit and fun.

I don't really care if you disagree, but please be cordial at least.

"Game-Changer" is a very strong phrase to throw around, I'd call them "minor adjustments"
Most of changes in 1.2 are things that could have and should have been in the game at launch,
It's beginning to seem like FDev's major content patches are any other games minor patches, I guess every other game in existence's "Major Patches" has made me see things differently.

Whatever. You decided to pick out my post and then take things out of context. Go back and re-read the words...

To the OP: nothing is new IMO since 1.0. Others will tell you differently. You'll quickly see the truth when you log in.

@Spartanbeef You're massively over exaggerating the amount of bug fixes, around 200 does not equal thousands.
And you got the stats on heat management wrong, damage occurs at 100%, but it scales differently now.

Yep, deliberately. I'd have thought its fairly obvious that there weren't actually "thousands" of bugfixes. I was merely trying to indictate that there were in fact a lot of bugfixes.
Sorry about the heat management thing I believed it was accurate, obviously not. Its still a lot less forgiving than before.

In any case, I wasn't trying to give a comprehensive list of every new feature, just the highlights. Personally I'm really excited for 1.2, everyone who's tried it seems to think it adds a lot to the game.

What should the OP expect with 1.2 vs. 1.0?

Personally I'm excited about 1.2 as everyone who's tried it says that it improves the game a lot. Perhaps you'd care to tell us what you would want in 1.2 and list some thing that could be done to make the game deeper than one inch? Maybe a constructive commentary on why the game fails to meet your expectations and what you would enjoy?

Remember, its never going to be fixed if you don't tell the devs whats wrong with it.

OP, there's no new content in 1.2
A few mechanic changes, two new ships and player and npc wings (with better npc A.I).
You'll be doing the same things you were doing previously but this time....in wings (if you have friends).

Oh and a much needed (and very limited) external camera.
Download the patch and make up your own mind.

To the Op: not much has changed if anything. The game is still.. well... 'samey' as folks say. The 1.2 release coming soon adds nothing to the core gameplay. Wings... Yeah. So folks can get in a wing of 4x and ... do nothing new. The game is in sad shape atm imo.

I could not disagree more!

I heard to be able to play 1.2 you must install "Imagination 2.0" first or you will get critical errors ? Can anyone confirm this ?
