havent played since before powerplay - pls bring me up to speed

As the title says, i stopped playing a few weeks before the powerplay update was released.

now im thinking about getting back into the game.

What should i know? what has changed?

On a technical front, the game's overall playability and stability have been improved. For most people, the stuttering issues have been mitigated or killed off to a great degree. AI is steadily improving.

New ships, three of them; while two of them are nominally the same ship, they're different models, both actual-model-wise and operationally.

Powerplay. You'll have to read up on that one yourself, there's a lot to cover. YMMV should be your mantra while checking it out. Even if you don't sign up, it will have some impact on your game as the Powers do their thing. Remember that you can take advantage of some regional effects without actually joining anyone.

You might notice some strange price changes or remarks that this or that is system is ''exploited'' or ''controlled'' or whatever by some random person. Occasionally you can see players flying around workin for Arissa or Hudson or whatever, earning this thing called ''Merits'' and helping their faction gain this thing called ''CC'', by doing various tasks and hauling ''PP Commodities''. On the internet, you might occasionally see obscure discussions surfacing on the forum where people argue ''where we should prepare next'' or exactly what formula decides the ''CC Expenses''.
This is powerplay. It's a bit like space LARP.

Except for that: There's some new ships, fixes, and performance improvements.
