Haven't seen this before......is it new?

So, I made a donation to a Faction, & got offered a Follow-up Mission as a result. Now, all I have ever seen from Donations is Delivery or Assassination missions.....so expected to see that this time, too. Only I was wrong. This is the screen that greeted me:

Now, it's possible that this Follow-on mission progression has been in since the get-go, but I've just not seen it til now. Either way, I do like it & was suitably impressed to see it. The more follow-on missions a single primary mission can potentially generate, the better.

Has anyone else seen this prior to 3.0?

I have had follow-on missions generated by donation missions before.

Whoever is updating these chain mission templates is on fire atm (in a good way), I've had the follow on missions that make sense (deliver cargo to my next targeted destination), and I killed a pirate lord, cashed it in & got a chain mission to kill another. The message was an apology that they'd asked me to kill the wrong dude & actually since I'd done such a good job and terribly sorry but would I mind killing the correct one for them too?

Awesome world building FDev, thank you ;)

Thanks for the money, but can you murder a guy for us? ;)

Well, they do explain it in the text. We're a bit strapped for cash at the moment, so a donation would be welcome. However, the real reason we are so cash strapped is 'cause smugglers from the neighbouring system are smuggling goods in & out of Ross 129. Please take some of them out for us.

Yeah, doesn't it usually work the other way around? Here's some money, here's some more....oh, you like the money? Take care of this guy for us. At least that's how it worked in the short story. :)
Exactly. It makes sense if one has a history of doing unpleasant tasks for money. Switch it around, though, and it gets rather disturbing.

Sure, but that's the funny part to me. It's the idea that says "thanks for the money. You know, while we're talking about money, you look like someone who would murder another person for about half of what you just donated, so check this out." :D

It would be like if I donated to Children's Hospital, and as a way of saying thanks, they offer me a wad of cash to break the kneecaps of the people over at Shriner's Hospital. It just feels wrong.

OI!

What the actual?

Is it kick AEDC week or something?
You leave Wolf 406 Transport & Co alone in Ross 129.

Our Vicky wouldn't be too happy, those smugglers are running guns for us to the Southern Operations HQ.

Yeah, I like when I'm sitting in space farming HGEs and I get a message - "Hey Cmdr! Urgent message, we'd like you to kill 35 civilians for us.". And this is the first time I'm in the system, so I'm, err, thanks, but no thanks. Btw, what made you think I'd enjoy mass murder? My bosses need me to ask everyone that calls.

Exactly! lol
Do they just go around asking random people if they want to murder others? What kind of future is this?!

Crack investigations team there to figure out that the Wolf 406 Raiders would be in the Wolf 406 system. That had to take a think tank to pull off.

In fairness to the text writers, there is no mention of the money being used to conduct an investigation (unlike Assassination Missions). This is more like, "thanks for the financial help......but if you *really* want to help us, kill the smugglers who are screwing up our finances!"

To be honest, I am a little nervous about taking this one, 'cause there is no guarantee these Smugglers will be Wanted (as smuggling still isn't a Bounty-worthy offense.....much to my chagrin)......so I could end up becoming very notorious by the time the mission is done!

I stay away from the 'kill x number of pirates/smugglers/etc" because the system is very bad at generating said targets. In other words, it could take a *very* long time for you to find enough of those 'mission target' ships.

I am beginning to notice that. It was much better this time last year.
