Welcome to the Haverford Family Zoo! Founded by conservationist siblings Wallace and Ivy Haverford in the early 20th Century, this zoo has been operated by the Haverford family for generations. The four themed areas transport you across the world to learn about our planet's wildlife.
HISTORIC CIRCLE
These grounds contain areas that were very popular in the early days of the zoo. While the Main Entrance, Reptile House, and Main Staff Building remain mostly unchanged, some of the other buildings have been repurposed. What was once a building that housed larger primates like chimpanzees and mandrills is now the Madagascar House, and the current Australia House used to house much larger animals that we now know wouldn't find the habitats suitable thanks to our modern standards.
SOUTH AMERICA
Venture deep into the biodiverse jungles of South America to come across ferocious jaguars, playful capuchins, slow-moving sloths, cute capybaras, and more! As you venture further, you'll find yourself in the foothills of the Andes and come across spectacled bears and our llama and alpaca petting habitat. You can even enjoy a meal with a nice view at the Andean Terrace restaurant or some snacks you've brought with you at our picnic area.
CENTRAL ASIA
From the thick forests to the snowy slopes, Central Asia has a wide variety of animals, such as the majestic snow and amur leopards, the adorable Pallas's cat, the critically endangered pangolin, the lovable dhole, the hairy markhor and sichuan takin, the eager-to-attack sloth bear, and the iconic giant and red pandas.
AFRICA
Our biggest area of the zoo, Africa, houses many guest favorites from the continent. The desert area features baboons, camels, porcupines, meerkats, and fennec foxes. The savannah area is home to icons such as lions, elephants, leopards, rhinoceri, zebras, wildebeest, African penguins, dik-diks, and gazelles.
Featuring award-winning habitats, rich history, and beautiful scenery, there's a lot of fun to be had at the Haverford Family Zoo!
