Having issues targeting mining rocks in SRV

Hi,

(hope this is the correct place to post this)

I'm completely new to the game (just going through learning things ready for some long range exploration fun) bit I cant seem to mine from the SRV at the moment (I assume I'm doing something wrong).

I've find a target on the scanner, and can find the odd looking rock it is pointing and I can blow it up but I just can't target the rock or anything that comes off it.

Do I need to add/activate something on the SRV in order to target these rocks or are not all detected rocks targetable.

I have checked my key mappings, tried many different rocks that the scanner detects (and look different). tried relogging/reloading but can't seem to get any targets from them or the pieces that blow off them when they are destroyed

It is now driving me nuts. Spent an hour and nearly all the Fuel in the SRV trying different rocks but none seem to be working for me.

Any ideas, help would be very appreciated.

Check your module pane and make sure you haven't accidentally disabled your sensors (not the same as the wave scanner).

Thanks for the quick reply. That is exactly what it was.

I had disabled lots of things previously and gone through and re-enabled everything ... so I thought. I realize now that I sometimes get a double bounce on my joystick trigger so I guess it must have enabled and disabled it and I didn't notice ... DOH.

I was just about to reply that I have them all enabled when I thought I'd better go check again, and it was the only one disabled.

There is a newcomer section in the forum you might want to check out. Once you're there there is also a banner for the Flight Academy discord channel right on the top. Should you ever be stuck or have trouble with anything in the game you can just go there and ask. Answers might also be a bit faster than on the forum.

Thanks for the tips, I've been spending more time in Google and on the forums than flying it seems so far

I'm sure get the hang of it eventually.

I did spend the first week flying around all over the place in the sidewinder scanning like it was going out of fashion (after doing the in game training)

At one point I saw some message about "FSS Scan [JOY5]" and googled the JOY5 system to see where that was so I could fly there, I couldn't find it so just ignored the message thinking it was just some in game hint as to what to do next. I was having too much fun to go questing
I now realize it was telling me I could press button 5 on the joystick to enter FSS scanning mode RAFLMAO

If there is a list of 'dumb things you did when starting' out I'd probably have them all ticked off by now, but that is part of the fun of learning a new game
