So I am not having download trouble with the new beta. I am not trying to install the 64bit client of anything. I am not using steam. But when I started the launcher I was presented with 'Elite Dangerous (32bit)' and the option to install it.....
hang on, haven't I been playing that already, has there been a sneaky update of 1.4 that no one mentioned? I am wondering why I have to reinstall this at all. I looked on the hard disk and I can see the game files are exactly where I left them, so what is going on.
My guess is that they changed the product codes, you know the ones in the folder names in the frontier_developments folder on the PC. If that is the case (i haven't installed anything yet, I'm waiting for beta download mob to clear the bandwidth
) it does seem odd to not just add a new code for 64bit clients and leave the old one where it is so that play is not disrupted.
I'm not going to raise a ticket on this as the Horizon beta download issue reports are probably busting the seams of their building by now.
Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone gone ahead and installed? do you now have two copies of the game on your machine?
