Having trouble sleeping because of ED.

I am 1 week into another exploration of in the never never and I am really struggling to sleep at night.

Each time I close my eyes and sleep, I picture another system and start to scan. This may take 20mins to 1 hour, but after the scan I wake up, toss and turn the other way, re-arrange my pillows and hyperspace into the next system to repeat the process.

I must have woken about 15 times or more last night doing this.

:( :(

Darn you ED and exploration.

Know this all to well. Woken up thinking "Did I save out".
Also when first started ED kept replaying docking :(

Can only suggest read/listen to book or music before sleep. Get your mind on another subject.

For me, the opposite is the case. I usually sleep very little (~4 hours during the week), but whenever I try exploring, I tend to nod off way before I would normally sleep.
Must be a combination of the soothing engine sounds and the darkness of space in the rift.

Do you have the default orange HUD? The glow is similar to a log fire, minus the flickering of course.

No - I'm using some sort of smudgy white:

It's soothing enough without the flickering.

Your choice of thread title is hilariously epic. :D

Sometimes I'm the same way at a good Res node, when I'm getting more than the usual Sidewinder whack-a-mole they turned into after 1.1.

I sleep in game too.

I've been using Voice attack to re-arrange my pillows, but every time I do my feet get tangled in the sheets, Or my proton beam fires and I have to change the sheets....

Damn you ED......

(get it? E....D....

Kirk, can you post that HUD colour, I'm assuming it works well in the rift?

Here you go:

<MatrixRed> 1, 0.8, 0.7 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0, 0, 1 </MatrixBlue>

Use with HUD brightness set to minimum, otherwise it's uncomfortably bright (for me at least).

I use it because I think using the entire pentile matrix to display text at minimum contrast results in minimum gaps between pentiles.

Don't have any data to back it up, but I thought it was logical.

I dream about exploration.

There was one where I jumped into a system full of MACHOs (which in the dream were kinda bloated planets, but I distinctly thought of them as MACHOs); the star had a big chunk taken out of it in a totally implausible way. Then I was attacked by alien spacecraft boiling out of one of the MACHO things, was taken down to 1% hull, fled, and was eventually blown up by the aliens. They were called Fire Ants.

Yup... I'm slightly ashamed of my dreams. :D

Pretty much my experience as well, - once I start seriously supercruising around, the darkness, quiet whine and rolling thunder quickly lead to headdesk, definitely the best virtual sleep aid I've yet to find.

You're not alone OP.

If it's not the Hyper Jump sequence going through my head it's thinking about Trade routes (Which you would think would send anyone to sleep! :D)

Regards

I crashed my clipper into a star the other night after braking too late. But then I woke up and it was ok.

Apparently I fly better when I'm awake, but the insurance is cheaper when I'm asleep.
