Haz Res Bounty Hunting is dead?

After skipping through the 4 Haz Res sites at our system and relogging several times we basically gave up on our nightly bounty hunting session last night after about 3/4 hr.

Expert/Master level Drophsips, Eagle and Vipers pirates and a bunch of clean Pythons. OK we got the occasional big ship but they were Expert level, it was utterly dismal. :(

After I consulted with other commanders and confirmed I'm not just imagining this I've filed a bug report because it appears that for all intents and purposes Haz Res' have been neutered.

I don't know if this is a bug or whether FD turned a dial down on them but something must be done!!!

We need a Haz res to be truly Hazardous to the biggest ships with the best pilots - I want to be challenged. I want a wings of Elite Anacondas, Gunships and FAS with 3.0 engineered shields. I want to be on the top of my game or be sent home in an escape pod.

Say no to mediocrity.

I've seem arguments that dialing up the difficulty on Haz Res sites would upset some players. I can't accept this as players can choose to enter them or not and other than surviving long enough to escape there is no restriction on leaving.

I'd also add that since 3.0 and the apparent demise of random ganking there is literally no danger left in ED at present.

HAZRES are dead since 3.0 when they moved them all.. and screwed over everyone that placed there home because of it. and in the progress killing some beautyfull spots to have fun.

Wholly Agree!

HazRez sites should be a race to actually protect the miners, while taking calculated risks yourself. They have Low/Reg/HighRez sites for new players and the (cough) "Combat-Challenged".

IMHO, in HazRezs, nothing smaller than a FDS/FDL or below Dangerous in rank should spawn as wanted. And , increase the spawn rate and frequency of wanted wings, as well.

Yeah I was wondering about that. I recently returned from a 5 month break & decided to move all of my ships from near Sol, to my old home system on the outskirts of the bubble - an Imp hi-tec system with one Coriolis. I remember spending some time a couple of years ago, making this choice based on my preferential criteria...& quite high up on that list was a HazRES close by; this system had 4/5 in one ring-system with the added bonus of some great vistas.

I returned a few weeks ago to find the nearest HazRES is now at one of the furthest planets in the system - I spent probably 20 minutes checking every ringed planet searching for them because I could not be 100% certain with regards to the exact location as it had been so long since I had been there.

...so thanks, FD! I've found over the years, that I can always rely on you to capriciously chuck a spanner or two into the 'playing my own way' works!

I agree.
Haz rez needs to be much tougher.
The spawn rate needs to be better. Wave after wave of eagles, adders and cobras are not a threat to our new and improved engineered ships.
We need more wings of big ships.
What happened to facing wings of four or more enemy ships?
lets have wings of 5 or 6 fdl's, annies etc.
we have less threatening sites, e.g low rez, high rez for cmdr's in less capable ships.
How about having challenging rez sites for player wings?

Its the new Crime and Punishment system. The NPCs are way too afraid of incurring huge bounties because they can't suicidewinder themselves anymore. Besides ... all the wings of Elite Anaconda NPCs have switched to Mobius.

They changed the Haz res in my home system from a rock belt to an ice belt, which seems to have even less targets than the rock one. Also there where two Haz Res around the same planet and now there is only one. Change happened before 3.0 though.

Personally I didn't notice the spawn rates dying until maybe a month ago.

There was a time when the spawn rates were even better than a month ago. Compromised nav beacons used to be good too. Tried one 2 weeks ago and and the spawn rates were atrocious. May be I got unlucky, but I remember they used to be like CZs with the amount of ships there. Wasn't like that now though.

Today I had an instance that was full of single FdL and Anacondas that were easy pickings for big bounties. Before that was another instance full of railgun toting ships in wings of three that caused a rebuy for my (less than optimal) Python and probably would have been a challenge even for my best combat ship. In between, I've had instances that had nothing but Eagles and Viper Mk IVs.

It's just the luck of the draw.

I've spent the last 3 days in a HazRes, working on getting kills for a wing mission. (Which is taking too long due to the bug where over half the pirates of the correct faction do not show up as mission target)

I've had a couple of bad instances, with expert/master Vipers and Eagles — but more often than not I have good mixed instances with anything from Vipers/Asps to FDL/Anacondas.

The most interesting instance which I had flee from, had a wing of these 3;
One Anaconda with two Gunships — mix of Elite/Deadly and ALL of them had fighter bays! Which were launched by the time I found them.

Either way, Anacondas show up in most instances. I'm nearly maxed out in Refined Focus Crystals thanks to that.

welcome to Sims in Spaaaaaaace!

There is nothing challenging in this game anymore; it's boring as now.

PS: Still, be sure to stay in Private Groups because the Gank Fairy will get you..lol

Although this was an exception to the norm, I hopped into one of the local local haz res last night to test a new weapon load out, and for the first time in a long time I was seeing elite conda spawns running around 500k each, along with wings of python and clippers. However, in general haz res need a serious boost in difficulty, frankly, all npc encounters are more than a little anemic.

At introduction haz res were billed as providing content for player wings, yet, provided I don't get sloppy I can still jump into a frag canon viper and farm bounties solo.

I can beat that. Wing of elites, Anaconda, 2 type 10s. I thought I'd have a go when another wing distracted them. Went for the Anaconda first. Probably a mistake, since that made them all focus on me. Had to do a runner.

Can confirm this. After an initial batch of ships all haz RES I've tried literally died out... only clean ships left, and no wanteds spawning.
