Haz rez npc loadouts

Hi.

Just headed out to a haz rez in my FDL and took on a group of 2 Vultures and a Python. I seemed to lose my lock all the time and they took my shields down (3k mj) in very short order. IfI didn't know better, I'd say they were using target lock breaker. It wasn't chaff, cos I actually lost the target lock and had to reestablish it.

I know CZs now have engineered npcs, but what about haz rez?

Have you focussed on Thermal with your resistances? As the majority of NPC's attack using lasers (although I've been meeting a few missile users recently) if your Thermal is not good shields will suffer more.

Ive noticed target lock break on NPC also without them using TLB plasmas.

Could be they are low heat generating and went out of sensor range or silent running or heat sink or just one of the numerous bugs. IF I were to guess I would say probably a bug/hidden buff to NPC as we dont see that effect on other CMDRs unless they eject heat sinks.

possible, I suppose, just that I've never seen tat before..

If the have plasmas and SCBs, chances are high they chugg a HS from time to time.
Easy to tell they are HSing, if the target marker goes from red to orange and then you loose
the lock when the HS is ejected.

If you just loose the lock, without the target marker switching colours,
i guess you are out of minimum emission range when the ship cools
below ~20% heat. Run a long range scanner and rejoice, still
guided ordnance cannot lock on, when the emissions are too low.

Fit a small pulse laser turret, for example, with the Emissive Munitions special effect. This will let your sensors keep track of your target much more easily, but won't defend against Target Lock Breaker effects.

Each time, they were jousting and taking fire at about 300m range when the lock broke. Thinking about it, I didn't see any discarded heat sinks. I have good thermal resists on the shields, so whatever weapons they had were packing quite a wallop.

In my experience, the Pythons (in RES) do use heat sinks a lot.
I put an emissive pulse turret on my Vette and haven't noticed it since.

Probably using a heatsink when firing an SCB.

I think it's heatsinks, it's been happening to me when I get interdicted when running missions. I have the emmisive experimental on one if my multicannons so I get a lock on them again pretty quickly....

Yeah, this is the weird thing, usually a dropped heat sink can be locked on to.

I see ships breaking lock too sometimes, when they didn't hit me with any weapon, drop a heat sink, or move outside sensor range.

Whenever I lose target lock, I use my rails. I've also taken to de-selecting the target and use open sights when at close range.

This is a challenge with small ships but adds to the game.
