Hazerdous RES sites now being policed

As you can see, the cops have been hanging out at Haz Res.
The second time it's happened to me.
Thought they didn't like these.

That is odd indeed, I haven't seen such a thing and I'm a bit of a HAZRES junky.

Only recently, since I restarted mining a couple of weeks ago, I have seen random clean NPC ships and even police when I drop out at a metallic ring, mega miles from any RES site. It's as if there is a background program running that is instructing these to appear in my instance when I drop out at the ring. So maybe you are finding the same thing, even though it's a HAZ Res.

I've seen this before FSS comes in on a very rare occasion for me -- one time I came in too hot ended up 140 km from HAZ res site and a FSS scanned me, and I thought to myself why is this security vessel 140km from the HAZ res site

They'll spawn if you're far away from the site itself and not technically in the hazardous zone yet.

Did they use to? It feels unusual, but regular, like it's a new mechanic. It felt very lonely mining the rings well away from RES before, but less so now. Or am I imagining?

Yes, they used to.

The very first Haz Res I ever dropped into after they were put in the game, I dropped out something like 25-30 km out form the site beacon, and there was a wing of security ships flying about.

I've never seen one inside of the area whereupon entering triggers the "Security link disconnected" message. They've always been outside that radius, I've never seen one inside.

Though, if they do spawn outside of the zone, it follows that they might chase you or a straggler into it.
