HCS voice-pack recommendation

Hello everyone

I sure this have been covered somewhere but i can't find something recent enough (best i found was almost 1 year ago)

I'm tempted by the HCS voicepack, but there are so many of them...

without talking about personal preference, is there one which is "better" than the others (more responses, more immersive,...) or are they basically all the same with a different voice ?

What would you recommend ? which one is the more complete ? can you make it works with two voices pack at the same time ? or three ?

If you are a Brit, then you will have heard of Brian Blessed and his BOOMING voice and his no nonsense way of telling people.....

So Get VASCO voice pack, Bloody brilliant, funny, loud, and a good companion in the black......... Braben is Back!

Verity is performed by the same voice actor as the original ship's computer voice in game. I haven't used it myself but I would assume that's pretty immersive.

I use Verity for that very reason, it blends in seamlessly. It also is one of the voice packs that gets upgrades relatively quickly - not as quickly as Astra (which is synthetic and doesn't need voice actors to come in), but faster than the celebrity ones. (If they get upgrades at all.)

Vasco is also my favorite . I started out with Verity and now I own 14 of them .
If you are thinking of adding than one pack in the future then I recommend getting ASTRA first .
The ASTRA pack contains the most extra themes and also the multicrew profile Which can be used with a single pack of multiple packs.

If you haven't had one previously I would always recommend getting Astra to start off with. She is normally the first one to be updated and have new features added to as HCS learn new things before they roll them out over most of their packs.

After that it is all pretty much down to preference, personally I also have Eden and Cleo (and will probably be getting Eli over the weekend once my wages hit the bank account). Using the multicrew profile that comes with Astra you can essentially assign each voice to certain aspects of your ships operation and make it sound like you have a crew, which is what I do most of the time though I do occasionally just go with a single voice too.

I find Astra the best. She has lots of responses and an `Interaction mode` where she`ll talk a bit. Her galaxopedia is extensive, telling real stuff all about the cosmos. Mine is personalised, so she has her own name and knows me by name- I don`t know if they`re still doing it though.

She`s also very customisable (as I suspect the other packs) and you can have her responding to all kinds of smart or silly questions. For example i have her say a variety of things if I swear, like "Calm down." "What is it?" It`s amazing how immersive it is. She can be quite soothing in an emergency and it`s also great hearing her from the ship when I take off on planet with the SRV.

If a truly personal and customisable AI is ever created it will take off in society like wildfire, I kid you not.

I originally got the Verity pack, as I wanted it to sound the same as the ship vessel voice.

Later I got Orion, done by William Shatner and tend to use that one a lot more. Surprisingly, Orion is very soothing to hear while playing; he can also be quite funny.

Well I doubt that, :) but there are certainly real life issues that would need to be dealt with. While I like the idea of a true AI (and Astra kinda gives you a feel of what that might be like) in reality it could have really serious negative consequences for society.

I agree on Shatner. There are times when the man annoys me but his voicepack is very good and low-key. However, like others have already said, Astra is the most feature complete and typically gets any new features first.

I don't have a voice pack yet, but I've been considering it, particularly the one that Obsidian Ant did. I watch all his videos and it seems like it would be immersive too. There's also a music pack that I'm considering, which uses his voice for responses, so it would be consistently voiced: https://gamemusicpacks.com/downloads/exploration-pack/

Verity sounds like a good choice too.

I'm completely new to the game and was blown away by some of the HCS Youtube videos. It's taken me a few hours to get used to flying with the voice control enabled, but now I've got used to it its great!

I'm using Orion (William Shatner) - very entertaining! I will I'll also pick up Midnight and Astra.

My personal favourite is Cecil. Very funny - such a character. It's even better if you get the Midnight pack as there is a profile that combines the two and there's some brilliant interaction between them. It's a different kind of pack as it doesn't control your ship, but you can interact with him. If you use EDDI it's even more interactive. The icing on the cake is that the proceeds went to charity (at least they did around xmas time - I'm not sure that's the case now).
