Discussion HCS Voice Packs and scanning systems

All of a sudden, as soon as I complete a jump, the Voice Packs switches to analysis mode and launches the DSS scanner. Not what I want. I want to scan the system. Out of despair, after hitting the safety zone of a few stars and damaging my ship, I disabled the "Scan the system" in the "Invoke Questions" of the customizer. But it still launches the DSS.

How can I disable this?

You probably enabled explorer mode. It is under "Extra Content" in the customizer if you want to disable it, or just say "disable explorer mode". Explorer mode automatically switches to a predefined weapon group to honk the system with the discovery scanner. The assigment what weapon group to switch to is under "Keyboard Control". HCS expects the discovery scanner to be on you secondary fire unless you tell it otherwise in said section. You probably have set your fire groups different from what the explorer mode expects.

The best advice is to keep the discovery scanner firegroup the same in all ships to avoid confusion. So I always set the honk to be secondary fire on group A, which might also be the default HCS expects.

I don't think HCS exploration mode changes fire-groups. If you don't have disco scanner set to secondary in the current firegroup - no scan happens.

However, yes, it seems the OP has Exploration Mode enabled in HCS and the DSS assigned to secondary weapon.

it doesn't change firegroups, it expects them. When you drop with explorer mode on, HCS will switch to the honk's designated fire group and hold its fire button. It doesn't care what weapon or tool is bound there; if it's the FSS or DSS instead of the honk, it will open that. That's why you have to tell it where the honk is, and try to keep it that way on all your ships - or disable explorer mode when you change ships.

I can't find "Keyboard Control". Only "Ship Controls", "SRV Controls" and "On Foot Controls"...

In VoiceAttack, with your HCS ED profile running, pressing left <CTRL> <ALT> <SHIFT> and <ENTER> should open the HCS Customiser.
There the Keyboard Control option will allow you to define Primary/Secondary fire and firegroup for your discovery scanner - as Helmut says, this is likely where your problem lies.

Or switch off Explorer Mode (which is what fires the system honk for you) under Extra Content.

The keyboard (and button) assignments for the scanners, firegroups, etc in your ship are found in the "Ship Controls" section - those for your SRV in the "SRV Controls" section. As you surmise there is no "keyboard control" section in the game's Options / Controls section.

Helmut and Joe were referring to the ability within HCS to carry out (or override) certain ship keyboard functions (including the above) which can be accessed via the HCS Customiser which has a "Keyboard Control" button for this purpose.
