Greetings all

as exploring as you do.. and pick up a few things..

then jump..

pick up a few more things..

jump again..

chose too get captured..

fragging scallywags attacking me..

I dropped my cargo, and managed to get out off there.

1 am I missing coms/demands?

2 dropping cargo.. instead of the whole lot; how do I pick the amount to drop?

If the attackers are AI then they tend to shoot first and not bother with demands. In such cases there's no point dropping the cargo, just skidaddle out of there.

If they're human though, then they may not be after your cargo at all, and just want to kill you for jollies. Or they do want your cargo, but can't be bothered to ask for it (if you're new, with a small ship, destroying you is actually easier than typing a message).

As to how to drop cargo, there's an option in then menus to the right of the cockpit (forget what it's called off hand ). Under the cargo tab, pick the cargo you want to dump, and it should let you pick how much. I've never actually done it, so I could be wrong on this one.

You are correct there is actually 2 different options for dumping Cargo the first one will make the cargo marked as "stolen" to whomever picks it up but the second one lets you drop the Cargo and it can be picked up without it being marked "stolen" this way is the only way I know you can help a friend with credits... Pick up a load of Platinum/paladium/Gold or whatever you want and then give it to your friend and let him go to a station and sell it... It takes some skill to scoope up the cargo fast....
