Head Tracking Troubles

I'm playing Elite in VR for a couple of weeks and having a blast. I remember reading somewhere that there is a setting to turn head tracking on and off. It gets very annoying sometimes trying to look out a window and having all the menu screens pop up all the time. Hope you guys can tell me how to bind VR headtracking to a key.

My second problem in VR is the message screen. Way too small and moving the head just a little bit closes the message I'm reading. Not sure if there is a solution to fix that.

There is an option to turn the automatic panels off and only have them activated by the specified hotkey, but for the love of me I can't remember where it is within the options... And I'm at work, so can't check either.

If no one replies by the time I get home, I'll check and let you know.

As for getting better and crisper visuals (and many other VR tips and tricks), have a look here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...t-DK2-CV1-Vive-VR-Experience-Guide-Compendium

You can't toggle headlook in VR (like you can in 2D) as it's always on, but you have two possible solutions. You can either 1) make it so that looking at a specific panel does nothing and instead activate the panel using a keybind - see screenshot below of my bindings:

or 2) leave the panels set to open when you look at them, bind the 'UI Focus' function to a key, then when you hold down this key and look around the panels will not open automatically

Only thing you can do is to open the panel using a keybind. The panel will stay open until you either hit that keybind again, open another panel or hit the 'Back' button.

I am using this since I originally bought TrackIR, but strangely enough I was never able to set the comms panel to "do nothing" I thought it was normal, but now seeing Main Sequence's screenshot, I wonder if I've bought a faulty Elite! :D

Much appreciated. I will try the second solution since this only bothers me when I want to enjoy view and those panels keep popping up.

I wish ED would just switch the "Message" & " Crew" panels. Reading messages in the panel on your lap would be much easier. I guess there is no option to just disable one of the panels, since when I'm not using neither a fighter nor a SRV I have no need for the crew panel.
