Headed out with no where to go...

So I fitted my Cobra with everything I think I will need for a nice long distance exploring trip. Heat sinks (never used before) Autofield maint thing (never used before) 32tons of fuel capacity, good fuel scoop, 22ly jump range, kept the shields in case I run into trouble since I dumped all my weapons. Also kept my super duper thrusters so I can run for my life if I run into trouble. Actually I can't even remember my load out but I have top of the line everything for that I can equip on this ship. Obviously I have the detailed surface scanner and advanced discovery scanner.

Any words of advice/wisdom?

I still don't know where to go yet but Sag A is out of the question for now.

D grade stuff is lighter.

Try this build slightly more jump range a bit worse thrusters (but you'll still pretty much outrun everything atlough be careful around Fer-De-Lances) you have to have the cargo hatch and shields disabeled to use the AFMU but that'll not be a big problem when you're far away from home.

Oh and for places to go. Try going to Veil Nebula West and NGC 7822

Barnard's loop and the Orion nebula are great places to go, i had an asp outfitted with the same stats (not anymore of course)
Look for some shorter distance nebulae to go to, its well worth the trip. id have to say that The Running man Nebula was my favorite (also near Orion)

If you go exploring you need to make money somehow???
Ok don't scan asteroid clusters!!! lol

Or rocks. Definetly not rocks..

Re. Auto field maintenance unit. DON'T do what I did. I set off for Sag A and 3000ly out I was scrolling through my module menus when I spotted I had a 'repair' option. So I clicked on repair on my FSD to see how it worked. Next thing I know, alarms are blaring as I crashed out of SC at 800c in a flat spin doing 15% damage to everything on my Asp! I blame space madness. Slow down and drop out of SC before playing with your AM unit.

Yeah, this. Always conduct your repairs in normal space. AFMU's are VERY power-hungry, and the modules being repaired, are shut down during the process.

Unless you absolutely have to, try not to repair anything until you're on your way home - you can only repair so much.

You probably know this, but when you repair your life support, you switch to your emergency air supply until you switch the LS back on - and it is not replenished until you dock again. My friend's Sag A* trip was ended due to his insistence on constantly repairing everything to 100%... without thinking, he set his life support to "repair" and then wandered off to make a coffee. He'd already used most of his emergency air in previous repairs. Came back just in time to see the rebuy screen pop up due to suffocation.

Thanks for the heads up about the auto maint unit. I had no idea how to use it. It makes the life support module make since now.

I am going to travel way down below the plane before I head out towards a destination.

I am going to scan scan scan so I can make some bread. Hopefully find an undiscovered place or two. Make enough money to pay for what ever I will need for horizons.
