Heading out in space..erm...the river this weekend.

This weekend, I will be piloting a small river's equivalent of a Lakon Type 7 down one of Missouri's wonderful rivers.

It is an 8 man raft, loaded heavy with beer and drunken humans. It will be my responsibility that the cargo reaches the dock mostly alive. Wish me luck.

Heat sinks would be welcome, but I'll just have to jump in the water instead. (Please no Thargoids)

Here I am surveying the docking situation. This should be easier than flying through the slot, though there are a few obstacles :D

Next time, it will be just me and my wife, cruising down the river in a Cobra, I mean, canoe.

Yeah, I left for my own long distance (5800 km) exploration in a sidewinder (HD Sportster) to Sagitarius A (Alaska) 8 days ago... I hit up all the High-Tech systems looking for upgrades before I left.

Got the ship prepped with repairs (changed fluids), extra fuel tank, scanners (GPS and camera), auto repair (tool kits), and light weaponry (belt knife)... found some aliens in Supercruise (bison and reindeer on the highway), and even found a lost outpost!

That last is "Krazy Zeeks" in Fairbanks, a computer repair/gaming den where Zeke was kind enough to install E : D for me to play while I wait for my Wing (siblings flying in) to join me tonight.

Thankfully, not been interdicted by either security or psychos... yet.

oh that is a lovely picture Monk, im a bit jealous.
i wish i could go RL exploring to, but i need to get myself a exploration partner and a new exploration craft.
last time i went i crashed my exploration vessel whitout having insurance.

OP repp'd for blurring the lines.

Sailed a 43ft canal barge for 2 weeks this spring, felt just like I'd imagine a T9 to feel (responded much worse than the T7 I had before the Clipper), especially in crosswinds...difting at 5mph, you can't beat it!

Enjoy your trip...I'm quite jealous :)

Have a good weekend. Don't forget a fuel scoop...I hear the fuel rats don't venture to that part of space.

If they know what is good for them, the won't!

The locals are...well...interesting

Yeah, the problem with these rafts is there isn't much controlling them like a canoe or kayak. It goes where the river goes. When times are dire (all passengers hunched over the side of the boat giving the fish something to eat) I tie a bungee to my chest and the boat and swim us to safety...I'm all like, don't worry folks, I got it! Honestly, keeping everyone safe and happy is more enjoyable to me than getting faced....I'll do that back at camp.

Look out for beer pirates.

The pirates in these waters launch jello shots :D and have beautiful (often...exposed) maidens. My kind of pirates.

isn't there thargoids (alligators) and other things there that can eat you? or is that just in Florida?

No gators this far north. Thank goodness. We do have crawdads (crawfish/crayfish/whatever you call em) that look an awful lot like Thargoids. However, I will be boiling them, not the other way around (I hope).
