Headphone/mic recommendations

As subject - been playing with speakers, no mic and with my poor EdTracker sat idle without anything to attach it to on me 'ed.

So - what with Father's Day just around the corner (here in Blighty at least) I thought I might drop some hints in the direction of the kids.

Suggestions? Nothing too pricey, but a solid set with good clear sound and a decent mic ta :)

If you fancy a desk microphone, I really love my Samsung Go Mic which you can get for a little over £30. It's an amazing little USB powered microphone. I use it for games, videos and take it to client sites to record training sessions. Picks up my voice beautifully even when placed at the back of my desk.

I had a bad habit of ripping cables out and now have a wireless 7.1 logitech for £120. Before that however, I used the above. Can recommend that they will be rugged enough to deal with most problems, have a good 3m cable length and provide decent audio/mic quality. Also over ear design for comfort if thats of importance for you on long gaming sessions, it does limit your hearing though if anyone is shouting you from another room.
Never really had an issue except for forgetting I had them on and trying to walk away from my pc with them.. Can't go far wrong for under £30

I can also highly recommend the website/seller CCL, Bradford based and do decent prices/service on almost all pc stuff.

I guess pricy is relative (ok my headset is a bit pricy), but i never liked the headset / mic bundles. Either the headset is not good enough or its the mic. Here is what I use:
Headset: Audio-Technica ATH-M50 (incredible sound on those)
Mic: AntLion ModMic (Best gamer mic i have ever used - keep your headset add a mic)
I wish my Bose headphones had a mic. I love the noise canceling and the solid sound quality.
Check out my mic - it was designed for gamers that have a headset they love.

If you want decent headphones then it really has to be Sennheiser, even more so if you are in to music. They are so well built, most have replaceable parts and they sound superb.

I've been using a Plantronics 788 headset and mic for some time now with no problems,

I did have trouble fitting the trackir 5 proclip, but a velcro sticky pad came to the rescue.

I have those and to be honest they are touch and go in Windows 8 and onwards because of the abysmal driver support from Plantronics. The Mic would not work on my PC at all (Windows 8.1) once I got a USB 3 front port plugged into my motherboard (Worked fine before then and no matter what I did, even plugging it into a USB2.0 port -Still no microphone) and I ended up getting the Razr Kraken Chroma instead. Which work perfectly on the same PC...

Weird thing is my Plantronics work fine on my Son's PC using the same version of windows just fine.

I know it took Plantronics months for them to fix the Windows 8.1 drivers and you could only get the beta's by PMing the Tech guy in the Forum for a while which was bloody stupid.

When Windows 10 comes out next month I fully expect them to be dead in the water.. Shame really as they are a really good set of headphones fro the price.

@Arda - Awesome mic. Thank you for the suggestion. I will have quite the cable management chore with all the cables coming from my head (trackir included).
Thanks again.

I have the same setup, but with the ATH-M50x.
