Heat Map Properly Explained?

Hello my fellow Commanders.
So, I have looked through literally hundreds of posts on heat maps and they are all different answers. I know, go figure!

1st: There ARE heat maps or overlays, whatever you want to call them, and they a by default BLUE. Three shades of blue to be exact.
2nd: There are light blue "almost a Cyan color", there is a normal blue color, and there is a dark blue color. Obviously if the entire planet is blue then the search is going to be a long one...

Now please, I am so sorry to beat a dead horse but what does the three colors represent because I have heard just about every players opinion by now... So please help explain.

The "Heat Map" is of course just a name given that has just stuck around but there must be some kind of representation for the three shades of blue color types.
That being said, please, is there someone that can properly identify the differences between the three shades?
I have found quite a few of the exo content but have never been told what the heat map is truly for.
(A Moderator would be a very trustworthy source if possible.)

Is there someone that can properly explain what this "Heat Map", so to speak, is for or used for?
Please don't send me to someone's 3rd party link on what they think it means.

I truly thank you Commanders that can in-fact explain the true purpose of this new "Heat Map" or mapping overlay system as Yuotube can't even come to one conclusion.

Newcomer / Intro - Biological heatmap - help please!

Hi all, are there any experts who can tell me what the different shades of blue / green mean on the planetary surface biological heat map? They don't seem related to terrain features, height etc as they either appear, or don't, at certain altitudes with colour varying a lot at the same altitude...

Here's the dev post about it. There's a lot of confusion out there. It's just blue, the colors are caused by the underlying topography.

Hey all, blue areas basically mean the organics can be found in those areas as they meet the conditions. It doesn't mean that every part of that blue area will contain the organics though.

The slight shading is just the planet topography underneath.

They are just location maps, sometimes the different shades caused by underlying geology will line up with bio because some bio prefer specific geo, like desert or rocks, but that's coincidence.
