Engineers Heat meta in 2.2

Heya,

with the release of 2.1 I had taken a break from ED, the stupid heat meta which was introduced with it being one of the main reasons.

Didn't yet have the chance to test the changes to this aspect myself, since I'm still busy catching up with all the engineer-crap I have to implement into my ship in order to become competitive again, so could some active PvPers share their experience in this regard? Has it truly been fixed, or is the "Heat attack"-warning still a "Disengage and leave the cook alone"-trigger?

Thanks.

It's manageable, now.

When you fire a heatsink while under a heat-inducing attack, the most of the heat is transferred directly into the heatsink for the whole time it's charging (so your heat stops raising) and when it pops it effectively cools down your ship. That helps a LOT.

Plus if you mod your powerplant for great heat efficiency, it also copes with incoming heat quite awesomely.

You can still get screwed if you're not careful, but you do have a fighting chance. Also the laser mod that increases damage with raising ship temperature (forgot the name - conduit something something?) seemingly helps to cool your ship down. Though this one is just an observation, I haven't tried to confirm it.

It is in a better place now, but it will still be a required mod for most Pv because of its ability to neuter enemy ship damage output. Basically you can push people up to 100% or so such that boosting or shooting most weapons will induce a low level of overheating (100%-120% or so). This will lead to winning fights over time but not fast melting like before, giving steady module damage to all but the most efficient ships. And efficient ships can now be seen as a proper counter, DPS loss being their trade off.

IF your intention is PvP and IF your ship has several hardpoint, I'd say dedicating at least 2 to heat is the way forward, with the rest of your hardpoints being a mix of whatever you want. 2x heat on something like the Vulture probably makes sense too. YMMV. Now that we have storage, farm those Mars and build up your closet full of options. :)
