Heat Sink Synthesis

It should be possible to craft a heat sink with gathered materials. As an explorer this would be useful as I have crashed into stars on multiple occasions and ran out of heat sinks during my exploration. This can cause things to get quite toasty.

Any thoughts?

i was out inn the deep space for weeks without any heat damage, heatsinks are for combat.
it is a balance thing, imagine how that would suck when someone can craft that stuff.

This has been discussed before. All that is needed is to put a threat check for hostile targets. If that comes up positive, then the player cannot create heat sinks unless they leave the instance. Put a cool down timer on it so that it can only be used once an hour and your (discriminatory) argument is resolved.

Not needed. Here what I learn. Once you get the 4 3 2 1 hit throttle down to 0 right then. Wait until you get to the new system make sure your stop and make sure your not heating up.

The only time I had to use Heatsink is when I been between two stars that to me it is been very rare. I have 8 Heatsink left. I jump around 4,000 systems. (Note I explore the whole system.)
 
I too would like to see this added. Along with the ability to synthesize chaff and scb. I do think some of these things should be put on a timer to help with combat balancing.
 
Explorers are likely to want to take weapons and other combat equipment, such as chaff, SCBs, and heat sinks, or even fighters. They are going to need to resupply these if they do get into any combat with whatever is hostile out there.

Since they can already synthesise complicated ammo, or even AFMS ammo, it would also make sense to allow explorers to make the rest, including limpets. Have some true multi-role exploration vessels for a change. Might add some extra gameplay to find the right elements.

When? Last time I use a weapon was 2 years ago. I use a heat sink maybe a year ago. But common sense work well when exploration. I use 1 heat sink in 2 years.

It dose not mean they need to make the game easier because players don't pay attention.
 
Synthesis of heatsinks and other items, like SCB ammo, and chaff, etc could be balanced by taking a long time to synthesize.

It would make heatsink synthesis not particularly useful in combat, but useful for Exploration. And other defence ammo would help PvE CMDRs stay out in combat longer, while only slightly messing with PvP balance. (Not that PvP is balanced anyway.lol)
