Ship Builds & Load Outs Heavy Armor Transport: The Conda

So here's my idea for my Conda; a Super-Long range (primarily because of the fuel scoop) armed transport with a pretty powerful shield

Problems I can see are three-fold; Fixed weaponry gives a [very] narrow combat arc, the total outfit cost is rather expensive and its shipping capability is much smaller than that of a dedicated trade Conda.

It does have the capability of bounty-hunting though, so there's that.

Anyone mind helping out with this?

Ditch the expensive armour, it's useless against other cmdrs, and completely unnecessary against NPC's. Put it this way, I sometimes take my unshielded trade Conda into combat against NPC's, am yet to lose the ship.

Except it's still useful and weighs only 60 tons.

What exactly is it useful for? Cmdrs will target your powerplant, NPC's are a non threat. It's your build do what you want, but you asked for suggestions from experienced anaconda cmdrs, non armoured sub systems make armour pointless on a Conda

Agreed with 777, it's dead weight for jump range and does not help defense at all against either PCs or NPCs.

How about collisions? Do improved bulkheads lower damage from that? I haven't looked into it so I'm not sure.

If you intend to smash into the side of a station at max speed, maybe there's a 1% chance it'll somehow leave you with 1% hull instead of negative 300 hull, idk.

But you're really just screwing up your jump range for something that shouldn't ever happen unless you choose to go afk on the approach.

Really, I'd rather pay the insurance in case of a crash than weigh down my ship with lead. A longer jump range makes you way more money than that over time

Here's my "Light Armor" Conda transport. Very cheap for a Conda and 36.64 LY jump range. With 452 tons of cargo, it still goes 20.88 light years. If you fail to thwart interdiction, you just have to run - which would surprise the hell out of them. You can always wait a second and see if they turn tail first.

Light Conda transport

At a rebuy cost of 6,336,301 CR, its not a huge ordeal to earn it back in ~3 to 5 round trips.
