Ships Height Above Docking Pad

I just bought a Type 7 yesterday and when I docked for the first time noticed that it was still WAY up above the pad when it was grabbed.

Here's an internal view showing the pad display reading ~5m and how high it is just before it'll get grabbed.

And here's a shot from the outside at the same height reading of ~5m.

You'll notice that the landing pads are about level with the top of the light stands and those stands are really quite high if you use the railing around the base and the cockpit as a reference.

Has it always been like this, or is it a bug I should report?

EDIT: It appears as though it's a bug, the image below shows the height at -37m just as I launched and before the platform drops away.

All ships have that docking assist. OP, I don't think it's a bug, the last digits act like a radio altimeter, they don't read zero when on the ground, they will have a minus number depending on how large the vehicle is (Height from base of the landing strut).

To give you an example, an average size airliner (size of the Eagle) will read -8ft when sat on the ground.

Still, send them a ticket to confirm, for some reason they don't like to explain stuff like this unless you ask them.

The Clipper is also very high off the ground, but the Python isnt. i usually use the control tower as a marker.
