CQC Hello FDev - Please help to save CQC's fair play !

Hello Community Managers responsible for CQC - please read, listen and help !

A few weeks ago, something typical happened in this wonderful and important sideline of EDO and EDH: the Close Combat Quarter!

We were able to wow a group of Console Players for CQC. They all had no experiences with this sideline so far and what we told them about our experiences and the fun we had inspired them to coordinate and to join CQC in TDM one Friday evening. What happened there was most disappointing and so discouraging that they will not return to CQC.

One of the more experienced and skilled players appeared, constantly looping the PUs and shot them down over and over again. For the totally perplexed newcomers it was pure slaughter. They even haven't a chance to play together for a few moments. Later, they tried to contact that butcher and reached him but were only ridiculed.

There are (many) more of these ruthless players around meanwhile which is the reason why newcomers avoid to join CQC. So there is a dead-end street situation in CQC right now: those players who joined years or months ago and meanwhile have reached their final ranks and those who try to advance and we have a dramatic - if not to say deadly - lack of new players because of the initial frustration they have to experience.

We know that you, the Community Managers, are doing the best to provide and maintain success to this wonderful game. Please help us and save the future of CQC by introducing two new features (you have it in the main game already!):

  • Please introduce an "open mode" to CQC.
Adjust a button to the CQC main menue named "opene mode". Clicking on that button enables a player to play CQC like it is right now - play it together with players of all ranks.
  • Please introduce a "league mode" to CQC.
Adjust a button to the CQC main menue named "league mode" ( a mode comparable to the Premier League in England or the Bundesliga in Germany) . Clicking on that button enables a player to play CQC together with players of his/her equal ranks only. This is the only way to avoid frustration as described above because players have a real chance to combat and advance with their similar skilled comrades: "helpless" fights against "helpless" and once he/she has reached the 5000 XPs they jump into "mostly helpless" to fight in that level only to advance to the next one. So frustration - as we know it today - is completely avoided, players reach the next level more rapidly and will have much more fun and stay with the game!
And fairness would have a chance, more players would join and stay! It would be a benefit for all players from both sides of the scale.
FDev, please show a reaction to the CQC communtiy! Thank you!

As always, CQC only need a reward rework, so more people can see this game mode as a potential cash input and not just an "another Elite rank to farm"
If more people come to CQC, matchmaking will be able to do his work and make balanced game

I don't think there is, or will ever be, enough people playing CQC to split up matchmaking.

The only way to deal with it would be bots to fill out the empty slots.
On the other hand private matches (could be with no rank and/or stats incrase to prevent cheat-farming levels) and could actually bring people in, as I presume many are just running away when Musketeer shows his beautiful face :D

Well, i see several ways to make it better.

  • training mode - with npc with selectable difficulty levels (novice > elite), so people can learn the maps and the basics. One cannot learn anyhing if they are butchered constantly.
  • private group mode - so people can create CQC PG and chose who they play with. This way a small group of same level rookies can still have fun together without being butchered by someone out of their league.

Or how about they make a CQC where we can queue with our own ships in 4v4 or 8 player death match without rebuy costs?

This ganker would certainly be interested. Would be a great way to try out new ship builds and quickly hop into a scrap with the ships we actually enjoy and prefer.

Well, it won't really work.
Especially if people start showing in 15k MJ Cutters

For an arena combat game, frags should happen in a certain timeframe, not chasing someone for 40 minutes trying to drop their shields

You really don't know what is Ganker, do you?

I do, I implied that I as a ganker I would find this form of PvP a breath of fresh air and certainly something that in addition to my regular activities would interest me.

You thought that I meant that this form of PvP would directly relate to ganking. Only partially, would be wonderful to end up in a 1v7 with non-engineered ships! 🤪

I gave up on CQC Arena when all these fake teams appeared that were playing actively in team in a solo death match.

There should be no xp/rank/level tied rewards like better ships/modules/weapons.
All participants must be equal in equipment.
Only skill must matter.

As for the OP: sounds fair but I guess that will make match making even longer.

Agreed. Absolutely.

Even an empty CQC installation would be tremendously helpful. Not only in order to learn the maps and powerups, but also to learn the intracacies of the CQC ships.

The pip management is very very different from the main game ships. The multitasking priorities are not similar to that of the main game. Many of us are used to overpowered ridiculously engineered ships and weps. CQC in comparison, is "pure". FA off in a cqc ship is also much more difficult.

Learning the "feel" of the CQC ships in a relaxed environment would be a godsend.

And the CQC installations are beautiful in their own right. They are a joy to explore.
