Newcomer / Intro Hello fellow Commanders!

Want to greet myself to the new world I have thrown myself into (and try to get two posts at least so I can post in the support thread to get some assistance from you Elites out there.)

A beginner question, what are some helpful tips, do's and dont's for this game?

Dos and don'ts? Well, that's kind of easy.
There is one Don't: Don't give up! and one Do: Do whatever you want and can. Yeah, it's awesome like that. :)

Why was the first thing that came to mind with "Don't give up!" was Peppy's Line, "Never give up! Trust your instincts!"

And I have already been doing that "do" QUITE a lot. I tend to get lost in space randomly as well haha.

Exactly. Space is big. And is clearly designed for getting lost in it. :D

The only thing that matters, here, is to have fun. Well, and money... >.<

If you want to know where the levers are and how to use them. (trade, combat, ship config for example) Take a look at some of the tools and advice that has been assembled in the swarm of wikis and fan sites. They're amazing.

After all, it's a bum feeling when you find out that your $25k profit is a joke because there was a rare item you could have traded just another jump along the line.

Yeah... I have noticed that... I goofed and did one of the mistakes mentioned in that guide. Left a starport with little money and got blown up by a random pirate. Lost my upgraded ship and had to start all over. LEARNED THAT LESSON THE HARD WAY XD

I haven't really dabbled in trading or mining. I have mostly been doing missons or killing random wanted pilots.

I know I would like to get out of unfriendly status with Federation. I was neutral with them at one point then got stuck in this never ending status of Unfriendly with them.

And oh I have already lost MANY MANY hours playing this game. I use to play EVE Online and when I ran across this game I dropped EVE like a bad habit. It's MUCH simpler than playing "Spreadsheet Simulator".

Now I do have a question that doesn't seem to be on the "Harmless Guide to the Galaxy"

What are ways to increase my reputation a bit more efficiently with the different factions? I seem to be stuck in this "Unfriendly Zone" with Federation

Ways to increase Rep -

Go bounty hunting and turn in bounties in Fed systems.

Trade with Fed factions.

Do Bulletin Board missions for Fed factions.

Turn in exploration discoveries at Fed stations.

Do not get caught smuggling illegal goods.

Do not attack anything that is not Wanted in Fed Systems.
