Newcomer / Intro hello from cmdr zodicus

Got the game last week, after i built my pc for star citizen. to be honest elite was just going to be a hold over for SC but im having so much fun with it i dont think ill bother switching over. It sounds like frontier has big plans and im all for that. even bought the sound track and a few skins to help support development.
Currently i have a type 6 and a cobra and am working my way toward the imp clipper. mainly because i think it looks awsome. before i post it somewhere else has anyone else mentioned using the ui focus view as a default view. Let me explain, when you hit the ui focus button it pulls the view back then you hit a direction. I would love to keep it in that pulled back view all the time. Anyone bring that up to frontier, if not ill throw it up on the sugjestions.

Some people play around with the pov setting. The slider in the options may not pull the view out far enough for you, but you can modify the value further in one of the xml files. Try some searches for 'pov'

ok so a few more days under my belt and i might have to change my opinion on this game, who ever came up with the bulleten mission needs to be shot. They say go kill this guy, so i go there some other duds like, no dont now go here.I do and i get jummped by either one big ship or a large group, most times i cant even deploy my weapons before they kill me. now some how after failing a million missions either because i have no idea where to find what they want or get screwed by some stupid kill contact mission, i get a empire assencion mission, yay right, not. what the hell, it wants me to buy and bring them something thats illegal in the empire.... and i only have a 1hr to find this random crap and bring it 150lyrs away.... after looking and randomly buying tradding info i gave up. so its a cool game as long as you dont try to do anything but mess around.

Yeah the missions are kind of a pain... 1.3 is supposed to overhaul the whole missions system, and make some vast improvements.

The game's creator, David Braben, answered some questions related to 1.3. Here's the link (in case you haven't seen it yet): https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=140067

Of course, we won't know how much of an improvement 1.3 will be until we get it, and FD irons out some bugs (which is inevitable with updates).

on a positive note the pov thing worked great i went in to the xml file and now have it set as 5 fov, much better. I really hope they work on the missions right now i just have no idea on most of them what im supossed to do

that thread seamed mostly multi player related unless im misunderstanding it.

You're right there is room for improvement rguarding the bulletin missions. However I don't think you've got a mission that says you need to go and find some crap and bring it a 150LY... ??
It's correct that some missions only gives you an hour or two to complete, but you alreadt know the timeframe before you accept it...

And Go-kill missions well if it's assasination-missions Don't do them yet(they are bugged(hopefully will be fixed with upcomming update ver.1.3) Only take on killing missions from BB if they are "Kill XX Pirate" in the beginning of your Elite-days the are easy to complete just go to a RES and start killing WANTED NPC's...

If you want to do the mission with "Go and get some crap"(your words) then I suggest you use a third party tool like http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ this way it only take a few minutes to locate the items you need(and it's not only a 150LY away you can get it)...

At last if you spend some time reading the "Newcomers forum" you'll proberly find many anserws to your questions and finally there are a lot of friendly players to help you if you aks politely without whining too much...

thats exsactly what i ended up doing, sorry for the tone of that post i was more than frustrated. It really did tell me to go 150lyrs to drop off the performance enhancers. Ironically i had just come back from that system on a previous BB mission. What really sucked is before i went to that trader site i bought a lot of trading info and saw many near buy systems that where supossed to be exporting it. However when i got there none of them had any instock.

anyway for now im just not going to worie about those things and keep trading/bounty hunting. I got a long time to save up the 22mil or what ever it was for the clipper.

I've been having more luck as of late. I'm now a serf with the empire. A few of the fetch quest i used the trade route info and the item was where the route sugjested it would be. I even had a kill this general mission go down the way it was suposed to. I guess a few hick ups is to be expected in a game of this scope.

I'm hoping the whole bulletin board missions are revamped, with a better reputation/ranking system. I flew a bunch of fetch missions to rank up to Lord in the Empire and in due time was given a naval ascension assignment to get personal weapons. The sort of weapons that were sold at that very station. I didn't even need to undock to fulfill the requisition. Needless to say I did that mission in about 32 seconds. Got the rank, so I'm not displeased. Still it was... odd.

I'm assuming PowerPlay will fix some of the mechanics on these things. (I sure hope so!) As well as add ways for us to rank up in our Power of choice. But, we'll see soon enough.
