Hello Sam Denney! Here's a case for including a very important missing Launch Coaster type.

Hi Sam! First of all I just want to say I absolutely adore Planet Coaster... it's my favourite game ever and pretty much everything I wanted in a theme park simulator. Even after 150 hours of playing I still shake my head in awe... it's a marvel. Thank you (and the devs) so much for making it and having so much passion as you continue to make it.

However there was one thing in the stream that made me cringe a little. When you were teasing the new coaster types you asked the fans in the chat what they thought they were, and someone must have suggested "launched coasters". When you saw it you said "We already have launched coasters."

As a coaster enthusiast I have been hoping that you guys would include what is, in my opinion, the king of the Launched Coaster type... the traditional Intamin Accelerator Coaster. I'm sure you're aware of what they are, but if not, let me offer a run down!

Being from the same manufacturer, they generally use the exact same track type as the Invincible Giga Coaster type in Planet Coaster, but use a hydraulic launch system instead of a lift, and have similar, but more box-like cars. For me, they were the coaster-type of the Naughties, and normalised and became the benchmark for launched coasters in general.

Here's a listicle of some examples of traditional Intamin Accelerators:

In 2002, Intamin introduced the world's first Accelerator Coaster, aptly named Xcelerator. It featured a 200 foot, world first non-inverting Top Hat Element.

WCOlcil.jpg

With that, parks took advantage of the impressive system and thus, the world's first 'Strata-Coaster' (in the 400-500 ft bracket) was built... Top Thrill Dragster, standing at 420 ft.

tXP8sS4.jpg

Only a couple of years later, Kingda Ka trumped Top Thrill Dragster's record, standing at 456 ft tall. It remains the world's tallest rollercoaster.

Storm Runner was Intamin's first inverting Accelerator Coaster, with unique unreplicated elements including the Cobra Loop and the Flying Snake Dive.

This was also the first Accelerator to use the generic Acclerator car type. (Which I would recommend using in PC)

At around the same time, your own Alton Towers mixed things up by forgoing the traditional Top Hat at the exit of the launch (due to height restrictions) and threw trains into a highly banked turn instead.

Even us Aussies got in on the action with Superman Escape... and our coaster selection is VERY sparse.

Good ol' Superman pushing the otherwise generic trains to safety.

They even made a cute lil' one called Kanonen in Liseberg, Sweden.

In 2007, Intamin branched out with a very close sibling of the Accelerator with the Blitz Coaster. The notable difference was that instead of a Hydraulic Launch it used an LSM Launch system, which meant that the trains could roll into multiple launches without the train having to be hooked up to the Hydraulic Launch cable. In the coaster above, Maverick, the LSM system is used for both Lift and Launch (in the tunnel below lift).

Cheetah Hunt has three launches through a long layout.

And this mess of steel is one of Intamin's most recent Blitz/Accelerator Coasters, called Taron.

I mainly included it because it's pretty amazing.

So in summary, the Intamin Accelerator is one of the coolest, most significant coaster types out there, and I'd love to see it in Planet Coaster at some point. Thanks for reading if you did, and I hope it didn't come across as too obnoxious... just taking advantage of the fact that you guys actually listen! Keep up the amazing work, can't wait to build with the new swinging suspended type!

I agree, this is one of the best coaster types in the world. I really hope this, or the Mack mega coaster will come in the April update. On a side note, I find it strange that the current Intamin giga coaster that is in the game doesn't have the standard triangle track model and flat track model available.

This is so much needed! It's one of the most common coaster types in the world and we still don't have it in PlanetCoaster[sour][up][up][up][up][up][up][up][up][up][up][up]

True.

This coaster type is really needed.

Please read this Sam [wink]

And PLS DONT FORGET A STOP SECTION WERE THE TRAIN STOPS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND LAUNCHES!!!THAT'S one of the things that are really annoying on the torque coaster for me[wink][up][up][up]You can do it frontier #infrontierwetrust[big grin]

I absolutely agree with adding the accelerator to the game. I have been a longtime fan of intamin coasters in general and while the sprint 500 is cool and all, it's very limited in what you can do with it. Sure you can recreate formula rossa and similar coasters to it, but it really lacks some options. Another honorable mention of a great accelerator is Ispeed in Mirabilandia. That's the kinda stuff I wanna be able to make. So what we need is an intamin with the regular Blitz cars, that's able to use both the hydraulic launch and LSM, able to Invert and able to have drops that go beyond 90 degrees.

Yep, I most certainly agree with this 100%. I was so bummed when I heard they might be done with launch coasters. I really want both the Intamin Accelerator and the Premier LIM shuttle in the game. The two coaster types would look fantastic in any park. Please consider them, Frontier!

+1 Trillion!!!!

SAM has been listening. Hopefully this highly popular coaster type and it's inverted shuttle variant is included in the april update as well!

Need to build my superman ultimate escape recreation (2000-2003) Steel Venom (2004-2006,7)

The main missing coaster in the game always has been the Intamin Launched coasters! Would love to see a multi launched type like Cheetah Hunt and a strata coaster type like Kingda Ka!

I hate to be "that guy", but the Sprint 500 is in fact based off the Intamin hydraulic launched coaster. it Uses the newer Intamin track design found on formula rossa, as well as the new red force at Port Aventura.

sure it isn't the imo cooler looking tress beam style track that Intamin has used on coasters like Dragster, Millennium force, or kingda ka, its still functionaly the same coaster type.

as for Intamin blitz coasters, i kinda feel that its space is already filled by the "Torque" type, which is based of the Premier Rides sky rocket and sky rocket III (full throttle) coasters.

we know boomerangs are coming, but I would like to see Intamin impulse coasters (maybe thats what the Trident type is going to be?) or have ad the ablity to make the "Torque" coaster work as a shuttle so you can make a sky-rocket II clone.

Also, GCI wooden coaster trains =p

Yup, that's why I said 'traditional Intamin Accelerator'.

An inverted impulse is needed. RCT3 has one. You can fake it using a different suspended coaster, but there is no powered launch option. It's meant to be used as a complete circuit coaster with a chain lift. A few Cedar Fair parks have impulses.

The trident type is one of two announced boomerang coasters; it won't be the Intamin impulse coaster. Hopefully they will surprise us and include the impulse coaster type in the 1.2 update

Agreed! The traditional Intamin track (box style) is what's used on their blitz, hyper, giga (which we have), and strata coaster models. The Ferrari coaster (sprint 500) track is obviously different.

I'd say a minor tweak to the dual direction launch element could do this?
Allow reverse launch speed: 0km/h, resulting in a pause break element?

Really agree with this post. However, the launched coaster I really, really want in the game is one with a catch-car style launch that can invert. I really want to be able to re-create one of my favorite rides - Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith from Disney World's Hollywood Studios park. Technically this is an LSM launch with a catch car, but I don't even care if the game calls it hydraulic or whatever. In fact, I would just be happy with the Sprint 500 if it could just invert. Then I could make a reasonable emulation of the experience. But no go right now. The full experience has to have you waiting for that catch car to lock in before launch and then immediately going into an inversion. Right now, I can get the catch car on the Sprint 500 and the inversion on the Torque but no way to combine the two.

Please, please Sam. (In Frontier we trust!)

This could be easily achieved if Frontier gives the new Vekoma Boomerang coaster, which can be used to make regular coasters, a launch track type.

Why? There is no reason for bumping this thread...[weird]
If no one from the team replied doesn't have to mean, that no one read it![happy]
(Btw. The next update will contain new launched coasters, so it would be better to search first before bumping a thread)
