Help a pc illiterate ( Sort of) with view to a new system for Vr in future.

I haven't read any of the other posts. But here's my 2 cents on VR.

VR will be bleeding edge tech for at least the next 2 years (like 4K monitors). Because of that the price is set at a much inflated premium. When you have a VR headset that costs $600 AND the graphics card needed to power it is $600 people won't be able to afford it on a large scale. If you buy it now your going to be paying probably $600 more for the same setup as someone buying it in 2018 If your ok with that great!

AMD has been renaming it's cards for the last 2 years 7770 = R 260 = R360 but they plan to release actual new cards in the last three months of this year Similarly Nvidia will be dropping new cards around that time to. If you wait long enough you will see AMD and Nvidia dropping out Graphics cards with the same power as today's $600 for less just to accommodate VR.

Well as i said VR is an option for later, i wont pay $600 at this time anyway so that is not an issue just yet. I do need to get a pc in the next couple of weeks however so i cannot wait for later in the year either.

I always build my own, so I've never used the company I've linked below myself. I first heard of the company from a jackfrags video (have also since seen frankieonpcin1080p mention them).

When I compared prices to self build 12 months back, it's true your not really saving much at all. I assume its still the case now, but you need to check. Adjust the build below to suit your needs.
