I haven't read any of the other posts. But here's my 2 cents on VR.
VR will be bleeding edge tech for at least the next 2 years (like 4K monitors). Because of that the price is set at a much inflated premium. When you have a VR headset that costs $600 AND the graphics card needed to power it is $600 people won't be able to afford it on a large scale. If you buy it now your going to be paying probably $600 more for the same setup as someone buying it in 2018 If your ok with that great!
AMD has been renaming it's cards for the last 2 years 7770 = R 260 = R360 but they plan to release actual new cards in the last three months of this year Similarly Nvidia will be dropping new cards around that time to. If you wait long enough you will see AMD and Nvidia dropping out Graphics cards with the same power as today's $600 for less just to accommodate VR.
