Help, after update my game is crawling!

I never had a problem running horizons until after installing last big patch, now when I start the game it starts shuddering just barely getting through the the frontier logos at start up then when trying to configure the shaders it just crawls and when I finally get into main game screen it is so choppy and slow it is unplayable, I am running a newer MSI gaming laptop using a GTX 1070 before this patch 'I had no issues at all', I tried checking my FPS is now 1! Whats going on? Should I uninstall and reinstall the game? I already verified my game files it made no difference and I have the latest Nivida drivers and have idea what the^%$# is going on here? No problems playing any other games. I just ordered an Oculus Rift S specifically for this game and the very same day the game stops running after I just got the new patch what? Any advice would be appreciated its driving me nuts, whatever is happening it is eating my cpu like crazy when the game is trying to load.

First off, ensure that the laptop is plugged in, your lappy will prefer to use the on-board intel graphics over the GTX 1070 if you don't & will only run at base CPU clock too.

Secondly, go into the Nvidia drivers & set the game to always use the Nvidia card.

Thirdly, if that fails, with the laptop plugged in, plug it into a monitor, that forces your laptop to use high power mode & use the GPU.

Thanks for the heads up, this gave me a clue what was going on, I had just noticed actually a day before playing around that I had 'two' video devices installed under display devices so I had just disabled the integrated intel graphics and left my GTX 1070 enabled figuring I didn't need the intergrated card, now after I read you post I just tried enabling the integrated intel graphics again and for some strange reason that fixed that the problem! NO IDEA why my laptop would need both devices installed under devices to play Horizons?

THANKS so much for the help here, 'it made the difference' I was very close to re-installing the game and didn't want re-download it all!
