Help building a rig

Hey guy's,

Plan is to build a second rig whilst I'm here in the UK for the next few months. I used to get all my parts from overclockers.co.uk, is that still one of the best places to go?

Anyways, ideally I'd like to keep the rig itself below 1000 pounds (including a 1070 or 1080) Any suggestions would be great, the rest of the budget will go on a second BKgamer, Hotas/sound system and gaming chair & CV1.

Cheers

1070 (~$450)
i3-6320 processor (~$160)
16GB ram (~$80)
Find a montherboard you like (~$150)
Add a case, PS, and cooler for ~$250 if needed

Total cost $1090, which I think comes under 1000 pounds.
If you already have the case/PS, that would cut costs considerably.

You won't be able to do a 1080. That's $700+ just for the videocard.

MacBook air :) You can take it back home too ;)
Insufficient graphics power to run Rift.

There are some laptops coming with the new 1060, 1070, and 1080 designed-for-laptop version that would suffice; but I don't think they are available and I don't know price (likely too high).

I'm not sure if they are cheapest (they are certainly competitive) but I highly recommend Scan.co.uk They sell everything you could want (even Vive bundles) and they deliver extremely quickly via DPD. They do deal of the day components, self build bundles as well as pre-built and custom builds. https://www.scan.co.uk/3xs I get all my PC stuff from them.

I had a returns issue with them once where they could have been more helpful, but that was an exception to the norm.

Thanks for the replies everyone, apologies, I should have said 1000 pounds without the GPU scan.co.uk looks good - https://www.scan.co.uk/3xs/configurator/overclocked-gaming-pc-mid-range

Great mid size tower here.

I just built a rig on this case below and it is pretty amazing.

I would go with an i5 6600k and a MOBO that can easily support which ever GPU you are using. Z170 MOBOs. Cheap but quality ones out there so pick your poison. I went with a high end EVGA one but I wouldn't recommend it really.

Of course this is the best budget fan out there so always a solid buy. Should be able to OC the i5 to around 4.4+ pretty easy with that fan.

Off the the top of my head: largest i5, strong psu, good cabinet (fractal define S - excellent air flow), twin frozr 1080 X, 16 gigs of ram, ssd.

If you're looking for a cool, silent build, the gpu and cabinet mentioned is a great start. Throw in a Noctua cpu cooler and you should be good to go. No need for water cooling.

Fly safe D.
