Help! Can someone analyze this?

I had a vivid dream which might qualify as a nightmare. I'd like to share it and hear people's thoughts on it!

I jumped into a system to explore because exploring is what I've been doing since January and get promptly disconnected. Logging back in I realize my HOTAS is throttled forward and before I can zero it to slow back down I shoot forward at the star. The controls are too sluggish to pull out of the dive. (kind of that sleep paralysis nightmare thing, right?) I hit the star's proximity drop limit, and the Emergency Stop message pops up as I sigh. I know I'm a long way from home and I'm going to take some amount of hull damage trying to climb back into super-cruise. So I turn around as the Frame Shift Drive cycles and my ship slowly starts to cook. I watch my heat tick up and cross the damage threshold as the FSD charges but I grit my teeth. Finally I make it out...only to proximity drop again directly on a planet.

I'm tripping out now, why was the planet so close? ...and why am I now in atmospheric flight? ...with a third person view? ...using one of those enormous original X-box wired controllers? Huh. The planet is pretty, looks like an earth-like but kind of pixelated, I guess similar to how Frontier: First Encounters looked even though I never played it.

I'm really close to the ground, and for some reason my nose keeps getting pulled down and to the right. No amount of correction can get the ship to fly straight, and I'm struggling like crazy to keep from plastering into the side of the green and grey mountains. I go up and over and back down and back up and over several of them fighting for control of my ship until finally, using a clever combination of vertical and horizontal thrust (which I had to figure out the key bindings on the giant game pad for) I keep the ship pointed correctly long enough to use the FSD to get back into space. (I know, mass lock, still a dream)

Success! Yay!

Except now I'm in super-cruise pointed at the star, and the down and to the right pull is still there. Back in first person view but this is getting annoying! The controls are so sluggish that if I try and pull left and up I won't avoid the star, so I let it pull. I plan on slipping between the star and planet to make my escape. I round on the planet to eye the gap I'm going to shoot between the star and the planet, and then I throw the controller in frustration!

There's a black hole parked between the star and the planet! That's what's been dragging on my controls! (I know real physics wouldn't work that way, but hey, it's a dream) I'm not going to give up though! I'll fight to the bitter end! Then I realize by throwing the controller, I had popped loose the controller's break away connection back at the console.

Why am I even using this antique? I grab the end of the cable as my ship drifts and tumbles out of control (back in 3rd person view) toward the black hole and proximity collision alarms start to blare. No, all my data! I've been out exploring since January 2nd, I can't let it end this way. The emergency stop message lights up.

Just as the screen is about to change to normal space where I know my ship will promptly get eaten by the black hole (I know, but it's still a dream), I let out a big "screw this" sigh and pull the power plug.

I wake up then shaking my head and have to laugh at myself. I just combat logged versus a black hole!

Yes, go outside and Praise The Sun. :)

Too much Elite!

Step away from the PC, go outside and enjoy the sun.

Yes, go outside and Praise The Sun. :)

But the sun is what started all this! I don't actually play all that much, I really slowed down about two months ago when I hit the other side of the galaxy. I play off and on still while slowly making my way home but I was so impressed by how vivid this dream was, I actually wrote it down right afterwards still laughing. Today I just decided to transcribe it to a forum post to get some laughs out of people.

I still don't get the whole Frontier: First Encounters style game play on the Xbox, I've never played that before. And heck, the last time I held an original Xbox controller was at least 4 or 5 months ago, bunch of friends brought out their old Xboxs and we LAN'd the original Halo just because :) That and Red Skys, hmm, that's a third person flying game.

Anyway, I'm glad some folks got a kick out of it :)
