HELP! cant get rid of an accidental bounty

So, i accidentally shot a (i think it was federal) aligned ship with a measly lowest tier pulse laser, i didn't actually realize id done it until i got a warning saying i was under attack. I quickly went into supercruise, only to realize that i was now wanted. I assumed id be able to pay this off, so went to continue with the trading mission i was doing, just about to land.... annnnndddd.... got blown up.

but i still have a 7 day bounty on me, and i cant go to any station aligned with the ship i shot, i get scanned and instantly killed, ive lost over 300,000 credits now, from begin killed twice, and still have a dormant bounty on me.
What am i supposed to do? or do i just wait for it to expire?

Go somewhere else in the bubble, wait it out, pay the fine at an Interstellar Factors.

Do what I just had to do - jump to a new system (I tend to go at least 100 LY just to be safe) and make a new system home for 7 days. Think of it as a vacation or a chance to see how quickly you can get allied with the main faction. Hardest part was deciding where I wanted to go

There is something you can do: Stay away from the system where you got the bounty until the timer times out. Nobody is bothered about your transgressions in other systems.

Incidentally, it wasn't just a stray pulse laser shot. You get 7 days bounties for murder, so you killed the poor guy.

no, i didn't kill anyone, it was a type 9 i accidentally shot, i realized i was shooting WAAAAYYYY before i even went through shields. could be a bug?

right, ok, so just logged back in, maybe SOMEHOW i did blow up the ship (with 2-3 shots from 1G pulse lasers) as it actually says 268,383Cr dormant bounty now, actually, i was crashed into by a federal security force ship when trying to dock at a station, flew straight into me and the type-6 flies as well as a brick, so i couldn't avoid that, maybe that exploded after hitting me?

Not always the case, I have two dormant bounties for 7 days duration:

One worth 1800 credits for killing some skimmers, didn't even know they were legal, so use to killing them ! It was originally for 24 hours but bumped out to 7 days when I was jumped by some Authority ships and killed (see second bounty below)

The second one is worth 100 (yes one hundred) credits for clipping an Authority ship that intercepted me when I was leaving the planet for the skimmer incident - never even got to high wake out to turn the fine around.

Both were my fault, I take full responsibility for them and will bide my time in my new home for 7 days until the bounties expire and I can play them off and return to my original abode.

True, and I dont get why dormant timers are so long. Anyone knows?

I have no idea, probably some arbitrary duration the Devs came up with. I just wish the duration was scaled based on the fine amount: Anything under 500 credits, 12 hours; 500 - 1000, 1 day and so forth.
