Help: Deleted Save Game

So, I was setting up my new joystick and also trying to get the game to stay in fullscreen without crashing to desktop, and apparently I hit the "delete save" button, and now when I log in it asks me for a commander name.

I filed a ticket under the "can't play" option, but haven't heard back yet. It's truly unfortunate because I finally got a /real/ HOTAS set up and was going to play on my only Friday free in awhile, but welp.

Does anyone know if there's an easy way to recover? Or does anyone have experience on if FD /will/ recover the save from the ticket?

I'm going to be very sad if I lose 6 months of progress :-(

Also, as a public service announcement: Even though the Delete Save option is in the configuration menu, it doesn't delete your configuration. It, counter-intuitively, apparently deletes only your progress on the server.

You'll need to wait for FD support to get back to you. They have been able to restore accidentally cleared games in the past, however there's no way to do it other than to wait for them I'm afraid.

If you've contacted FD about blanking yourself they should be able to restore you if it's possible.

Edit: Aaand mod shurikened. :D

You'll have to sit it out with the ticket, nothing else you can do.

As a bit of encouragement, a week ago or so, another guy posted about having suffered the same "accident", contacted support and had his commander recovered within a couple of hours.

I wouldn't count on a equally speedy solution though....weekend y'know.

It would be helpful to this CMDR if you could find that post. Then he could ask what kind of ticket he filed that got him a quick resolution. Sometimes the ticketing subject selection can be confusing.

I can see how someone could accidentally hit clear save (possibly??) but I find it hard to understand how you can then select it when it says "are you sure?"

I guess they'll fix it for you ....this time ;)

This will delete your CMDR. Your commander, ships, stats and stuff will be deleted forever. Forever is a long time.

Are you sure?

Just wanted to update this in case someone else searches for the same issue. FD were able to restore my save -- presumably from a backup. I hadn't played for a few days before the incident, so don't know how recently they can restore saves, but everything is back and nothing lost!

a mail-sent validation code needed to confirm the delete, just like on the launcher activation should be the best approach
