Help, fellow explorers - what is this? And how do I get there?

My nuts, when I tell my wife I'm going to play another hour of ED :) it's such a ballsy move, you can see them from space!!

Like Erimus Said, It's NGC 7822. Well trodden by explorers so no first discovery's there but well worth the visit, make sure you visit all the 'O' stars many have black holes. I remember one BH was so close to the star my fuel scoop was deployed while I scanned it.

I was there a few months back. SO many blackholes and O stars you could spend a night or two there just checking it out. Pity everthing I saw was tagged but aw well can't have everything even if we want it :D

i tried to get there with 32ly jumprage but even at 250ly distance i coud not plot a route. how do you actually get there?!

I do have exactly the same jump range, and how I got there was dive downwards below the galactic plane, approach the nebula from below and then travel upwards again. I am now at the nebula's doorstep:

And there are no gaps between me and its dense starfield :)

Hello Cmdr IMS shorter and easier ;)

i believe youre looking at NGC 7822 . Its a beautiful bright line of white, and looks like a rip in the sky. Quite a epic place to visit, been discovered long ago by others so dont expect any first discoverys but still its worth the journey.
Theres quite a number of black holes in the constellation and many bright blues.

The journey can be difficult as its slightly isolated away from main star groups and will require a jump range of around 25lyrs more is better, less may not be enough, might get away with 24.
the last few hundred lyrs towards it need that jumprange as very few stars to navigate to.
If you go , you wont be disappointed and take some screenshots too .

looks like two other explorers i know are nearby there too.

search galmap for either ngc 7822 or one of the stars like S171

ah, sorry , i noticed after , Gratz and nice pictures too.#

I did that nebula long back when i was starting out exploring. Seen many others since then , futher out, but still. NGC 7822 was still one of the most memorable of them all.
Happy exploring, hehe
