Anyways back to the topic
I think I know how to scale this.
On google earth, you can use the measurement feature.
What I did is measure the secondary entrance since the first one was covered in trees and it is 19 meters wide.
Now I can scale the thing!
using Google earth's measurement tool is the best way I have found
Ah I like to call those kind of parts 'the challenge'. The part of the zoo that will be pretty difficult but you are going to have to do at some point. But saying that it does seem rather complex from a standard planet zoo building standpoint. You will want to break up the tropical house into parts so it is much easier to manage, what i mean is ignore the roof at first and build the habitats and actual interior first. Then you can look at experiments on how to build the roof - i will say roofs like that especially ones made of canvas AND needs to look good inside and out would be a challenge for me. Leave the roof question for another day, focus on the ground level first.Theres a new problem on the rise though.
The Tropical House
It’s a giant almost inverted dome-like structure that’s 75 meters in diameter.
How the heck do I do this???
Theres intricate curved concrete beams two, and there are three, not four. This is gonna be real difficult.
I could use the opaque glass pieces. It’s pretty similar to the real look of the building.Ah I like to call those kind of parts 'the challenge'. Welcome to the world of recreations, a whole load of pain to get the joy of recreating a favourite zoo of yours. The worst part of course is google maps doesnt have any coverage at all which adds a whole load of extra research for you to do. There are 2 options for you to do - 1 is visit the zoo and take thousands of pictures of videos of literally the entire zoo or 2 is dig through youtube for as many walkthrough videos as you can. Searching for the most recent videos (in the search settings) can get you quite a few unnoticed videos, this is what i do for all my zoos, even family blog style videos can be helpful even if they dont focus entirely on the part you are wanting.Yeah. That’s probably the best way.
It’s hard to find good resources for the zoo though. Theres a couple walkthrough tours but only some don’t have cuts every now and then and one straight up misses out on the tropical building.
You also can’t google street view in most of it. There are a couple points but it’s mostly uncovered.
You can street view in Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island but Nicholas Lionrider already di that one so I’m doing Franklin Park.
Also im not gonna lie i thought this was going to be a more recent/up to date build of the roger williams park zoo, i totally forgot boston has 2 zoos. Its up to you to decide if the project is feasible for you at this early stage, you can solely build of basic youtube videos but to get it down to realistic details you are likely going to have guesswork in place. You can street view in Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island but Nicholas Lionrider already di that one so I’m doing Franklin Park.
It’s funny. Boston technically only has 1 zoo within its bounds, but there are loads in the greater Boston area. Rhode Island is a different state south of Boston, and Roger Williams is in Providence, but it’s still technically the greater Boston area. There is also Stone Zoo, Southwick’s Zoo, Buttonwood Zoo, and Capron Zoo.Also im not gonna lie i thought this was going to be a more recent/up to date build of the roger williams park zoo, i totally forgot boston has 2 zoos. Looks simple enough, the only noticeable differences in height are obviously the 48 - 50 zones. The central of the zoo is good enough for a flat area which I recommend aiming to do first.I made a rough height map of the zoo
I’m creating the new thread now!Oh I do recommend either you make a new thread in the zoo Creations section on the forum or report the first post so a moderator can move it so we stop spamming the general discussions![]()
Okay created it!I’m creating the new thread now!
