HELP Galaxy map lost the Stars!

Galaxy map lost the Stars!
Im Approximately 16k ly from Sol in the vulcans gate region exploring, logged in to day and can not plot any routs as the stars are not showing in the Gal map. only stars i can plot to and are showing are in the bubble.
this is in both accounts and i have verified the game files, booted in to horizons, base game and the beta all the same. anyone else getting this? plus full shut down of pc and reboot. About to raise a ticket

What have you got your map set to? Sounds like you have allegiance, economy or similar selected but not the "none". If 16K ly then shouldn't you have star type selected?

Also - what does it show if you select realistic rather than map?

Also, if you've ever used it, check the "population" slider. I tend to forget to reset that one.
