Help, I dont know how to explain it in a title? Um opens game in addition to Steam VR?

Greetings CMDRS,

I have this strange problem when running Elite through Steam VR. I posted a link in the Oculus forums but i thought id post it here too?

I have this issue with Elite Dangerous and it seems only Elite Dangerous. Whenever I launch it through steam VR it opens another thingy, see below.

The problem with this is that I can't use other tools whilst it does this as this white zigzag box is a separate thing. It's like it's on top of Steam VR and not actually SteamVR.

Any tools I use - I run in Steam, so they don't show in this separate white zigzag window. See below.

This should be visible whilst playing Elite, but it's not because of this two application thingy.

Things to note, I used to have Elite run through the Oculus library, but I uninstalled it to run via steam so that I could use these tools.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your zigzag box is the Oculus software starting up - this thread may be of use to you:

Hiya, thanks for the response.

I've tried this but from researching it seems now that its an old fix that doesnt work anymore. If i use this method it'll run on the desktop but not show in the headset.

Also, if it was Oculus home why does this only happen on Elite Dangerous but not other steam VR games?

Did you have the stand-alone installation of Elite, or the Oculus Store version?

What your experiencing looks like it's opening Oculus Home in VR as if it were a launcher, and then running Elite in Desktop mode in the HMD. I've heard of this happening to other folks as well:

It's interesting that it only happens with Elite, though. I'll look around online a little too when I get off of work, but for now this thread might help your own search.

I originally had it on steam. Then I heard that if you had it on steam you could claim it for the Oculus, so I thought I'd do that. Then I realized that there's way more use for having it on steam. So I uninstalled it on the oculus and reinstalled in on Steam.

A bit back and forth but that's the sum of it.

Oh thanks. You're very awesome CMDR. I'm going to try a few things I'll let you know if I get it behaving!
