Newcomer / Intro Help! I have a new computer now what do I do with the journals?

So I had already played Elite on the new computer and thought I'd better copy and paste my journals from the old drive to the new one.
I am still seeing systems as not visited when I have in fact been there.
What am I missing?

Your starmap cache files. There's more than just the journal files.

(I'll look for the paths, and reply if I find them)

I don't have C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous, maybe because I'm running game through Steam?

use the file search function in windows to search your c-drive. You will find the folder somewhere

Head here:
%LocalAppData%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous

Grab everything from the old computer and copy it to the same path on the new one.

This will also grab your bindings files, visitedstarcache (which is in one of the folders with a number as a name), trading history and more.

You'll want to back up your bindings, journals, and visited stars cache

Journals are here:
C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous

Bindings are here:
C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

Visited Stars are here:
C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\[SOME_NUMBERED_FOLDER]
