[HELP] If you're in the bubble and have Horizons

I need one of you fine chaps to spend a few minutes testing something for me please, as it needs to be done in the bubble and I am miles away !

I need to know what the minimum and maximum height is to see blue circles(POI indicators) on the surface of planets. I would like actual tests and not an article/thread stating what they should be :)
If you could fly say 3KM off the surface, then when you find a bluey , go up and down to find limits. I would be very gracious

We are POI hunting in Beagle Point, as there should be none now that FD removed them outside the bubble. The thinking is if we find one then it might be "special" . To maximise search it would be best to be at max height with max sensitivity on radar when we're doing our search.

thanks all :)

Good luck in the search and keep an eye out for Jaques. I'm at Sgr A* myself right now so can't really help with the request. Was going to meet Jaques at Beagle Point but since he's gone missing I'll have to redirect. May spend some time in one of the neutron fields.

We're not searching for Jaques yet as that lazy layabout has gone missing once again :D
Re Neutron fields : Do your search on the other side of SAG A* (nearer to BP) then you will be closer when Jaques turns up. Thread is in my sig for neutrons, just take my location for them in that thread and mirror it on the other side of SAG A* and you should find them less than 5LYs apart :)

I'd like to help at BP but for some reason E: D has stopped recognising the roller I had bound to the radar range on my X-55. Doesn't even see it in config now :(

My X52 pro is still working 100% , bummer for you :( I do have a brand new X55 sat gathering dust for over a year, might connect to test it, but I am away for a few days ...

I found one yesterday outside the Bubble. I was closing in on it and then my connection failed :(

Thargoid "Auto Alt-F4" conspiracy syndrome ?

I'm docked at a surface base in the bubble. I'll take a look as well.
Edit: Had 3 POIs visible on scanners up to about 28km, now they've disappeared. Will try to find some again.
Edit 2: Found 2 more they disappeared as I passed through 27km.
Edit 3: POI fadeout begins at 2km. At 1.5km they are invisible.
I'd say a good range to spot them from would be from 1.6km minimum to about 26km maximum.
Edit 4: It appears that POIs de-spawn when going above the maximum range. In other words when you drop below about 27km again it seems like new POIs spawn.

wow, 27 KM is excellent, ty

Here we go:

0916h: Cuachini 1, Cobra Mk III "Narrative Causality", Cruising at 3,000 m. No bluey yet, but a lonely Asp Explorer in the distance. Surface traffic is a really nice addition.
0918h. Still no bluey in sight. Asp Explorer gone as well.
0920h: Bluey detected at 2 o'clock from 3,020 m altitude. Rising at the edge.
0922h: At 12,300 m. Bluey still there.
0923h: 15,500 m and rising. Now there's three blueys (2, 7 and 9 o'clock), because I increased my sensor range. Going down now.
0925h: Recovered at 300 m. Blueys were completely gone at 1,500 m. Also, bounty hunter Anaconda. Going back up.
0929h: Blueys disappeared abruptly at 25,000 m with the HUD change. Descending did not make them reappear. New bluey at 10 o'clock. And another one at 6! (Altitude: 23,300 m). Descending.
0934h: New blueys started fading out at 2,000 m and were gone at 1,500 m. Shields and some hull were gone at 0 m. "Narrative Causality" is RTB.
0938h: Same story. 6 and 10 o'clock bluey faded in at 1,500 m, were gone at 25,000 m with HUD altimeter change to "DRP".
0943h: Safely docked & repaired. Hope it was helpful. :)

can't rep you anymore :)
Are they visible in glide ? (with a shallow glide I can cover lots of ground at speed, 2500 m/s)

If it stills works :( My joystick died a couple of months ago and Tech Support were useless

Out of time to test, but they used to be in 2.0, iirc.

I believe the maximum altitude is variable, depending on the switch from one hud mode to the other. (Gravity? Radius? So many things to test ... )

Thanks for the guide! That will make finding my way there much easier ... especially now that we have waypoint markers in the map!

@dognosh, do you see any USSs out there where you are? Some of them now contain the materials you'll need to craft upgrades. The threat level 0 ones sometimes contain materials free for the taking.

I haven't seen any but then I wasn't taking notice !
Mainly I have been prospecting in SRV and surveying landable planets from above.

I took a slow trek from Maia back to Farseer Inc to try and gather as much exploration data as possible to sell to the FSD upgrade lady. In the unoccupied space between Maia and Deciat most systems would spawn 2 or 3 USSs. I'm curious to know if these only spawn in or near the bubble.

Can't tell the situation after 2.1, but when I was coming back home just before the patch the USS's started spawning roughly 1-2kly or so from Sol (I didn't really keep track when exactly), with greater frequency the closer to bubble you got.
