Help - Im only getting 4ly with my new ASP!!

As noted by everyone else, you need a class 5 FSD. However, ditch all of the E gear as fast as you can. You should up/down-grade most gear to D for an explorer vehicle: D gear is lightest and every ton you can shave off of your weight will increase your jump range.

Other useful tips:

Switch to a smaller, but higher-grade power plant to keep your weight low but your heat efficiency up (I have a 2A in my Asp). Also, even a cheap auto field maintenance unit is worth having with you in an emergency –keep it switched off until you need it in your module setup so that it's not eating power.

I've recently taken to carrying a spare fuel tank as well to allow me to push further through the badlands – if you have the space there's no harm in it, just remember that scooping it full will reduce your jump range; best to travel light unless you see a bad patch ahead on the galaxy map.
