Summary
System: California Sector HR-W d1-28
Station: The Mictlan (Megaship, large pads available, 6,453 Ls from main star, 977.27 Ly from Sol)
Objective: Hand in Pilots Federation Combat Bonds
Time limit: 9th February 3309 @ 06:00 UTC

Description
The Kumo Crew is marshalling the defence of the California Nebula by offering rewards for eliminating Thargoid vessels.
The Kumo Council, the syndicate’s ruling body, assumed control of several systems that were recently invaded by Thargoid fleets. Independent pilots have been asked to take part in anti-xeno initiatives within the region, which are being coordinated from The Mictlan megaship.
Harrison Gladstone of the Turner Research Group, which represents the Alliance in the California Nebula, made a formal protest:
We are not happy about defence initiatives being funded by a ruthless criminal gang. These pirates are using the Thargoid attacks to expand their illegal activity, thus jeopardising our faction’s scientific and commercial interests. Several of our ports in the area are now under Kumo Crew ‘emergency protections’, as they’ve termed it. This is an illegal occupation of Allied territory!
In response, Archon Delaine claimed:
Taking charge of local security forces is necessary to form an effective anti-xeno militia. If the Alliance cares so much about this region, where are their warships? We’re doing Mahon’s job for him. The colonists here will soon understand our decision is the correct one.
The Kumo Council has agreed to reimburse all Thargoid combat bonds handed in at The Mictlan in California Sector HR-W d1-28.
As an additional incentive, the Kumo Council is offering paintjob rewards to participating pilots.
  • The top 75% of participants will receive a Pirate Faction - Green paintjob for the Asp Scout
  • The top 50% of participants will also receive a Pirate Faction - Purple paintjob for the Alliance Chieftain
  • The top 25% of participants will also receive a Pirate Faction - Rose paintjob for the Krait Phantom
The campaign begins on the 2nd Feb 3309 and will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.
To earn rewards you must sign up as an active participant before handing in Pilots Federation Combat Bonds at The Mictlan in California Sector HR-W d1-28 system.
Please note that if you have any crew members, a proportion of your combat bonds will be automatically assigned to them. These combat bonds will not count towards your personal contribution total, and your crew will receive the reward for these combat bonds when they are handed in. The proportion of combat bonds assigned to your crew will depend on their rank.
Be aware that faction-state changes and other disruptive events can negatively impact markets and station services, and could prevent the initiative from running smoothly.
Notes:
  • The Mictlan is at planet 5
  • Megaship services: Commodities Market, Outfitting, Repair, Restock, Refuel, Social Space

And now, what to do? I have 19B combat bonds and I don't like this paintjobs!
Fdev are aware that many players keep billions in CB (mostly from thargoid war) for any future CG, and it means such a CG would be finished too fast.
So, they give us a chance to hand in combat bonds in unimportant CG, for unimportant rewards - and then, when the time comes for serious CG and precious
rewards, like double-engineered something, or special new module, it can start from scratch. So, is it kind of trick? Or, is it the last chance?
Because, it could be that soon (U15?) Fdev will eliminate this feature to not lose combat bonds after death. I wouldn't be surprised if they do it without warning.

I apologize to the players who think Kumo Burgers are not unimportant in this war, and to those who think this paintjobs are very nice. This is just my opinion.

If the second CG isn't immediately after the first, then people will have had plenty of time to build them up again - at least to the point where they can be reasonably confident of a top 50% finish - so it would only work as a trick if there was a very quick follow-up. On the other hand, if you're hanging onto 19B in bonds, then it only takes about 30 similar people to end the entire CG. That's nowhere near enough to drain everyone's bond totals for next time. When they held multiple AX CGs in a row just before the Proteus Wave, the later ones weren't significantly slower than the earlier ones.

I'm surprised they're doing AX CGs of this sort at all, since the Thargoid Invasion/Control systems are basically a much more sophisticated version of the same thing, so it might be the last chance before the outlying nebulae get converted to standard Thargoid Control? But they might also want to spin out the "why are the nebula Thargoids still the mostly harmless-unless-provoked sort" question a bit longer.

19bn?

tell that to the people moaning at the ax payouts nerf ;)
I have 23 bills in combat bonds as well. There few more people i know with tons of bonds.
It is a bit sad to see such... underwhelming reward.
I think I will not handle them this time and keep saving them for better reward.

Funny story - Kumo wouldnt be in those systems at all if it wasnt for AOE expanding them to fix broken bgs sliders. (something i have informed FDEV and many others about). Oh and the cant be retreated having only 2 factions (maybe provide us a route into the sector?)

NOTE: Turner cannot expand into freeport either so dont bother trying.
In addition the turner stations between Cali and Pleiades are useless - badly in need of upgrade and a second sympathetic faction to make them usable.

Its a xeno-sympathetic area so how do you think we feel about this cg?

Not only that the manner of this cg's arrival was botched. Again. Im of the opinion the sector is beginning to get a reputation for being cursed :D
So we have this situation where AXI are respecting the syncretic NO-AX zone, plus all our PRO-XENO friends are generating bounties - WE WELCOME player choice.

Any chance you can give us something other than passengers to repair the damage (especially security) please? Ive been asking for years.
And lets talk elections - mining missions dont work for elections. That leaves us only 2 mission types - one of which doesnt spawn reliably.

Our group has been hanging on by its fingernails for years - we halved in size due to being a console group.

Throw us a bone here man!

You can find a public guide to the area on our Squadron thread here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/aoe-the-allied-order-of-exemplars.605602/

the bigger issue is that FD dont close this exploit to make CGs a level playing field. surely not that hard to code in date stamps for CGs, or even system and date stamps. if i was wanting to pay to clear an area of shady people in real life.... i would not pay soldiors for work done on other battlefields 2 years ago for instance

being able to hold on bonds and deliver them 6 months later is one thing, but the fact that AX combat is that lucrative while being risk free is also an issue (IMO ofc)
Last AX CG was in mid October (and it made 1500 billions in less than 7 days) - 3 months later people have managed, again, to stash tens of billions, again...

edit: typos

Bonds are for a faction, right? So they should create a new faction for the CG, so only new bonds credited to that faction count.
