i took this screen shot i am not sure why my barrier is grey so i try dragging over a mechanic to learn it and he wont stay you will see it right under Aquatic theme? stay safe people

What you'll need to do for now to get a quick player-fix is start a new zoo in your franchise and plop down a staff room, workshop and mechanic. Then set that mechanic to researching the barrier and let the game run until it's researched the new barrier type. That worked for me as well as others. It does have to be a brand new zoo though.

You are welcome. and yup, it's definitely a pain but relatively easy to get around it. Hopefully an official and actual fix for it will come with the next update, or a fasttracked bug fix update.
