[HELP] Looking for a tutorial to enable HTC VIVE with ELITE DANGEROUS (No-steam version)

there are tons of topic and i'm tired to search in multiple topics this information.

Please where is exactly a post which explains how to make ELITE DANGEROUS (NO-STEAM release, only with the PC client) working with HTC VIVE.

(i bought Elite dangerous before it was in Steam)

I'm only on the cell but can give a few quick pointers.

Start steamvr. Then start Elite as normal.
When it loads to menu open options, graphics.
Under "3d" listing select HMD (headphones) and click apply.

That should really be all that is needed.

Correct.

I'm not 100 certain you need to launch steam vr either, I think it'll launch it on its own once the HMD (headphones) option is set

On mine it loads into the HMD automatically

In fact, SteamVR launchs itself automaticely when i launch the game after the Launcher. i set 3D HMD.
it's awesome

now i'll wait about a 1080 Ti to put a high Supersampling. Did you tried SS ? what set with what gfx ?

I settled mostly on vr high without blur.

Ingame ss of 0.65 and steamvr setting of 2.0.

But I haven't used my vive for ed for a while now. The rift arrived...

Hello! I just installed my vive. But I do not understand how to activate it in the game. It is not installed in steam. I start it with the FD launcher.

The option described here are not avialable. Vive and staeam VR are active.

Ok I hope they fix these Problems. I still can not play it with the vive. Aren't there any options in the game to activate VR?

Yes as someone has said above, start the game as normal in regular 2D. Then in the option and graphics menu, go to 3D settings and select HMD (Headphones) and apply.

Then when you launch Elite after that it should automatically start up Steam VR for you and launch Elite in VR mode.

And yes you do need Steam VR running to play ED with the Vive, just as you need Oculus Home running to play it with the Rift. Without Steam VR running, your Vive will not work basically.
