Help me get in debt to start my RP.

It didnt seem right to post real world questions in the RP section hope ppl dont mind.

OK heres what I want to do. I want to get as far into debt as I possibly can with as little assets as I possibly can. So I have a few questions.

1. When my ship gets destroyed and I cant afford the rebuy, does it automatically apply the loan to help you afford it?

2. If it doesnt apply it automatically, what do I need to do?

3. Can I get a loan multiple times if the value of my ship stays within the 200k loan cap?
ie, Ive got the rebuy cost to 30k on the Eagle I want to use, as high as I want to go before it starts being too good. So if I can take the loan multiple times, I should be able to destroy it 6 times and get to 180k in debt.
Will this work?

Any other tips, tricks, or insight into going about this would be appreciated. I dont want to mess it up and have to deal with a sidewinder(nothing against it, just feel like it would break the continuity of what I am doing), or have to start fresh. I have my rep and ranks kind of where I want them, at least I think I do.

The more I think about it, the more I think I might want to start completely fresh so I have a question about permits.
Is it possible to get system permits without doing any combat at all? Im ok with snagging the occasional pirate if I really need to, but I really dont want to have to take anyone out to get the higher ranks like I did the first time.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate being able to grab knowledge like this from those that have already done the experimenting :)

If I recall, you only get the loan once. It's not a credit line. Until you pay it off, you don't get it again, even if you didn't 'use' all of it the first time.

If you're going to RP you don't need the actual stats to justify it.
It wouldn't make any sense, the money you owe to whatever fictitious organization you made up would in fact be money you owe to the insurance agency.
And you'd be limited by the 200k limit as well, which is like 20 minutes of trading.
You could just RP the debt being owed too. Write it down if you have trouble keeping track of it.

Thanks Valethar, it helps me make decisions even with simple to the point answers like this.

If I was playing a game on paper, then I agree you just write down your numbers and go, but if I have an electronically created number on my screen it would mess with the immersion quite alot. I appreciate the suggestion though.
Im not really that worried if I cant get the debt really high. Even if I only end up with ~30k debt, thats still the price of a small ship which it seems the majority of people in the galaxy cannot afford. If that is wrong, it can easily be RP'd though cause Im not being told otherwise by a big highlighted number on my screen :D

So yeah, it doesnt matter if I cant get 200k debt, but the higher the better. I think I have a creative way of getting it reasonably high, but I might need to try some stuff first, which of course I cant do :p

Follow up question. Im guessing you declare bankruptcy when you take the sidewinder. If you do this, does it clear your debt?

Pretty much what im after.

Gonna be forced into some shady happenings to get it paid off I expect ;)

By shady, I mean less than legal, not, you know.

Welp. After messing around with stuff for a while, I thought, "why not consult the game manual".

Mistake!

"If you have ships in storage, you can choose to abandon your current vessel claim and select

a ship in storage to activate"

Pretty darn clear to me what it says there. It didnt happen. At no point do you get given the opportunity to take an existing ship over the buyback or the free Sidewinder.

FD, can you please change the manual to reflect what actually happens. Its hard enough to find/figure out how things work in this game without the games manual being straight up wrong.

I ditched ~35 million worth of assets with this decision I made. I was more than happy to do it, but that happiness included using the games mechanics to start from a specific place and situation. Now it looks as if my best option will be to simply wipe my save.
Again, something I would have been happy to do if I hadnt taken alot of time reading up on how everything worked and planning very carefully to achieve my goal. If I had decided the game mechanics could not achieve what I wanted and made the decision myself to start again I would have been perfectly happy. But having taken the time and confirming what I wanted to do was going to work by looking into the manual, I am extremely miffed that the manual and game seem to not share a common universe.

Now, while I am certain I will get over my current rage as soon as I return to having fun in the game, that doesnt change the fact that my intended RP beginning is completely ruined and by the time I am in a position to try and set up the same situation again, I may have completely lost any connection I had with my character, along with the sense of immersion I had with this game up until now.

EDIT: Deep breaths taken, calm enhanced. It took a bit of work and the transition from old to new game play wasnt nice and quick and seamless as I wanted, but I got there in the end. A bit of mucking around to get a FSD big enough to get the sidewinder past a small gap in the starways aand a bit of time investment and I made it to where I needed to be.
Time wise, I only really lost a few hours and a small amount of continuity in my RP. Im a little more annoyed at not having the full 200k dept that I would have had if the plan had worked but it only amounts to a few k of the debt, and a bit extra money in the bank from the deposit return from the rented sidewinder, not a big deal.

So, rant was almost completely unjustified, but it would still be nice to make sure the manual is up to date with the game since alot of new players may rely on it.
I was so completely the opposite of annoyed before this happened too, overjoyed in fact that this patch actually does allow me to play the way I wanted to from the start. Getting that feeling back now :D

A bonus was finding out my HUD I had made for the Vulture matches nicely with the Sidewinder cockpit as well. And of course, I had the pleasure of flying the Sidey again, it really is fun to fly.
