Newcomer / Intro help me improve this pirate build

just quickly put this thing together. i want to try pirating for fun mostly, not for huge gains. pve only.

did i forget anything mandatory? i figured i get an interdictor, so i at least have the option to interdict other ships. i also put in a kill warrant scanner for optional bounties if i feel like killing someone.

i sorta really like the idea of the fighter bay. because i haven't used it in the past and perhaps it helps doing the pirating.

any suggestions greatly appreciated.

(also, is there a way to figure out where to get the valuable stuff or should i just go to an extraction system?)

Looks alright.
What I would consider, though is armament. You don't want to destroy your opponent, only disable them.
You can achieve it with the fighter (I'd recommend some weaker weapons like pulse lasers). But if you want to use your main weapons, I'd recommend something less... punchy.
C2 pulse lasers for carefully stripping shields (your C3s will smoke a smaller vessel in seconds). Or maybe better - beam lasers. They strip shields faster but don't do as much damage to hulls.
For C3 mounts, maybe something like large multicannons? They are really accurate at short ranges and good when you need to disable a specific module fast. Like thrusters, so they can't run or cargo hatch if you don't want to bother with hatchbreakers (or if the ship has point defense turrets and your limpets have a hard time pushing through). Probably make two firegroups, though.
One with the C2 lasers and one multicannon (strip and disable) and second one for full firepower when push comes to shove. :)

Don't know what you mean by valuable stuff, though. In piracy it's kind of luck-based.

Put the collector as a size 5, the scoop as size 4, and the interdictor down to size 2. That will make them all a little more useful.

The size 3 you can then fill with what you find most useful.. More hull, a rack, repair limpits, etc etc.

Lose the computer and gain a dss if you want to pirate in rings/hotspots etc.

Three large lasers, two medium seeker missiles is not a bad option for weaponry. Lasers strip shields, missiles wreck drives.

To start, go to anarchy systems, so you do not have to worry about security whilst you learn the basics. Work your way up from that.

I prefer rocket (pack hound negate point defence) for taking out the engines. Also I would suggest getting more collectors. You can go for a lower class shield and dump the secondary cargo bay for now. (Python gives another c6 cargo rack)

Looks good overall, although I definitely ditto the no-no on the PAs. They're overkill for a pirate, you'll end up blowing up your payday more often than not. And you don't need the PAs for combat. You're a pirate, not an assassin, you don't look for "fair fights", and if you see one developing, you high wake the heck out of there :)

Also, and I know that you said PvE only, but if you ever get tired of pirating NPCs only, you'll find that most of the player miners will explode if you as much as sneeze at them, since most of them are so busy grinding credits for their first NoobaConda as fast as possible that their ships are made of paper. Remember, you're there to steal, not to kill. A kill means no food for your starving kids that day. :)

@Viscera's suggestion is a good one. Take down the shields with the lasers, then take the drives out with seekers. If the target has PD, you can module snipe the thrusters and/or cargo hatch with your lasers instead of the seekers.

(and if you want to go all artsy and unfair and don't mind a bit of engineering, you can always replace the PAs with a super-penned rail for the module work ;) Not necessary at all, though.

Oh, and what's with the KWS? You don't need one for pirating at all, unless you want to do a bit of bounty hunting on the side, in which case my general advice (that I don't always follow myself either, but it's true nonetheless) is: If you equip your boat to do several jobs at once, you'll do none of them well.

o7, CMDR!
