Ship Builds & Load Outs Help me understand why these same shield generators vary on these two ships

Hello all!

From what i understand a lighter hull should get a better shield strength than a heavier hull using the same shield generator, no cares for the weight of other modules.

But in at least this case it is the opposite:
AspX gets 235Mj, hull weight is 280t https://beta.coriolis.edcd.io/outfi...18WQ==.Aw18WQ==..EweloBhBmSQUwIYHMA28QgIwV0A=
Krait gets 350Mj, hull weight is 320t https://beta.coriolis.edcd.io/outfi...18WQ==.Aw18WQ==..EweloBhBmSQUwIYHMA28QgIwV0A=

Is coriolis wrong or is my understanding that a lighter hull will get a strong shield than a heavier hull using the same generator off?

Ships have different 'base shield' values.

AspX - 140
Krait - 220

'Shield maths' will then be applied to the base number.

The technobabble answer would be that different ships have more shield emitters so a Krait at around 9 x the price of an Asp X has better shields even though the hull is heavier, (perhaps because it has more emitters?) and will result in it having better shields using a class 6 generator than the Asp X

What he said. Each ship has a shield base value. It's not lighter hull/stronger shield. You start from the base value and then do (complex) calculations.

Coriolis is correct for the most part, just a few of the newer items are missing. But the shield calcs are good.
