Help need - Odyssey galaxy and system map

Hi there, I feel I should know this after playing ED for so long but it's eluding me. I play with my new laptop (since last December) and use either an xbox-like gamepad or my Logitech X56. (The gamepad is for when I play downstairs on the sofa next to the wife, the x56 when in my office/man cave for longer sessions).

I've noticed that I'm not seeing a targetting indicator in the map for selecting a system or planet. I can swear there used to be one but I cant select a system/planet without using the mouse/trackpad. I can move around both views fine but cannot select anything with the controller.

For most of my ED career I've been a "HOTAS when in flight, mouse & keyboard when not player" but since getting the laptop I've been trying to embrace Gamepad play more and this annoying me. What am I missing?

Forget it. Nothing on Odyssey was designed for us HOTAS users. Use keyboard and mouse or get lost.

Gets even more funny on the terminals on the ground. You run around with keyboard and mouse, then use a terminal. Then I have to switch to my HOTAS for a moment to move through the options on the terminal, as i don't have a mouse pointer there yet. Once i selected one menu, it enables the mouse pointer and i have to switch back to keyboard and mouse. Was reported several times during the Alpha, but of course, any feedback given to FD is just as good as sending it to /dev0.

Wheres that unlike button when I need it?

You couldnt answer the question but felt the need to vent. I understand. Take two pills and relax .

"Excuse me sir, can you tell me how to get to the railway station?"
"Railyway Station !!? Forget it, if you're not a car driver theres nothing for you in this bloody place! Bloody council!"

I know what you mean. But yes, while my answer might also be a bit of a rant, the base is also there: i also have not found what you are looking for. The proper solution, as far as i have collected, is to use keyboard and mouse. If you use anything else, you are out of luck, the updated UI seems not to be designed for that.

selection now is hold I think. So target planetary body and hold down trigger until selected.

Yep, I got that. I hold the mouse.

But none of the controller buttons do this. When you hold you see the progress bar and that doesnt come up with controller buttons.

And oh, dear god, how nice it would have been to be able to configure that delay in settings somewhere.

Oh, I thought it works with the controller.. well that's annoying.
