Help needed - looking for Proprietary Composites

Inara.cz usually has hints on how to find rare mats.....but some are just a ***** to find. I am looking for several rare mats these days, and I have found that as I wander through the bubble doing missions, different areas offer different rewards. I did see Prop. Composites as a reward for a mining mission in Fed space (near the edge of the bubble towards Maia and the alien shenanigans).

I couldn't tell you if it is random, an area thing, or a state based thing. My feeling is that it is an area thing, as some commodities are only offered in a given area. When I have checked the mission board in my home system I see a lot of the same mat rewards over and over....but if I travel they vary. Try travelling (and BOLO for many rare mats, not just one).

Thanks. That's what I'm thinking, too. And it matches the behaviour of the materials you can buy - they are always in a specific region, only in few ports and all of them really close together.

So it'd be no surprise for the rest of them.


I just wonder where they are. I've checked several fed systems and always -wait- look at the missions.

Just haven't seen them yet, so thanks for pointing towards Maia.

If you reach the logistical support outposts, you've gone too far!
What are they used for anyway, what are you trying to engineer?

I'm pretty sure I've picked some up in Combat Zones. Of course, your friends and allies probably mutter dark things about you if you spend too much time hovering in a CZ scooping up the debris from enemy ships, when you're supposed to be busy helping them pew-pew the remaining enemies.

found Core Dynamics Composite
and Proprietary Composite
Federal System <- this might also be of importance
Boom State (this doesn't seem to matter anyways)
42 N Persei System <- this seems to be most important

So your hint was what led me in the right direction. You can't imagine how happy I am! I would never have looked there. It was the second USS that came up there- the first one I couldn't reach because I was interdicted by pirates a few Mm before (I was        *g angry about this), then I headed towards the only outpost but fell asleep at the controls. Woke up some 40.000 ls out, turned around and again headed for the only outpost. Fell asleep repeatedly and finally woke up, still a few hundred ls off the outpost, with an USS right before me. Checked it, high grade emission, made it, found it full of the stuff. 4x Proprietary, 1x Core Dynamics Composites. Perfect score 5/7.
